UC Intercampus Transfer PASS/NO PASS policy?

Hello everyone,

I am currently attending UCSC. I am planning to transfer to UCB or UCLA because UCSC doesn't offer a B.A. major in Statistics. Right now, I am taking 3 classes (5 unit each). One of my classes is a writing class. I was hoping to change the grading policy from GRADED (letter grades) to PASS/NO PASS to keep my current GPA because I am certain that I will not obtain an A in the class. Writing isn't my major, nor is it any prerequisite for my major.

1. Will a PASS/NO PASS grade for my writing class drastically affect chances of transferring to UCLA or UCB?

2. How often can I PASS/NO PASS until it actually becomes detrimental to my chances of transferring to UCLA or UCB?

Thanks in advance!UC Intercampus Transfer PASS/NO PASS policy?
The general rule for transfer admission is ';no more than 14 semester (21 quarter) units may be taken Pass/Not Pass.'; This should apply to intercampus transfer as well.
