AP Biology D in senior first semester and UC admission?

First I am a senior in a high school in California and have applied to UCs.

Last semester, I received D in AP biology with less than 0.1% away from C. Although I asked the teacher for extra credits or so she is strict that unless, she would not change the grade.

Right now, I am writing letters to UC campuses' office of admission to notify this failed course. (First time ever in school life I received D)

My question is how will this affect my addmission into UC?AP Biology D in senior first semester and UC admission?
Before you write those letters, confirm with your school if that's considered failing. Many schools consider a D or D+ to still be passing. You may not have to write a letter unless you want to properly explain it away.

It's pretty rare to have an acceptance pulled. If your other grades were fine and you're doing ok now, you can explain it was a blip and even ask your teacher to write a letter certifying it was less than .1% away from a C.AP Biology D in senior first semester and UC admission?
depends which UC. May shut the door on LA and Berkeley, may not be such an issue with Riverside.
Even a C would be terrible in ap biology...
Why not just drop the class... or spend more time on studying and less on hassling the universities.
