How to Get a Professor to Change Your Grade?

I got a C for biology and I don't understand how I got that.

I got a 82 on the first test, which worth 15 percent (.15 * 82=12.5)

72 on the second worth 20 (72 * 20=14.4)

77 on the third worth 25 (77 *25= 19.25)

The averages quizzes is worth 10 percent and go 73 as the total average (73*10=7.3)

For lab I got 83 average which is worth 30 percent (83*30=24.9)

On top of that I got 9 extra credits on my final grade...

adding all that up

12.3+14.4+19.25+7.3+9+24.9=87.15

So I don't understand why I got a C?

Should I send her an email and ask her?How to Get a Professor to Change Your Grade?
go ahead and ask her. because i had a C also. i averaged out with A on labs, and 3 high C's and 3 high B's and i had a C+ :(How to Get a Professor to Change Your Grade?
Write this up, make an appointment, and discuss your findings with her.

Did you actually contribute to class? Did you engage in fruitful discussions? Be prepared to discuss intangible assets - if any....but don't bs her.

Be professional about it.
professors do sometimes put in the wrong grade. They get off a line or whatever. I would email you prof with the information you have here and ask am I missing something. You also could have bombed the final.
Just make sure to ask politely and respectfully. If you come off as whining or complaining you'll never get her attention.
Are you sure you received 9% for extra credit? That's an incredibly high boost, and you may have only received 9 points on a specific assignment (like a test or homework).

You do not understand why because you messed up how to calculate the extra credit in your grade (did 9 extra credits mean you get +9% to your final grade? that sounds unbelievable).

The other possibility is that you were in a class with a distributed grading system, and you do not understand how it works. If the most of the class did better than an 87.15, then you getting a C makes sense. Grades in college are more like rankings.

You all ready want her to change your grade, before you get an explanation. Funny. Email her and ask if you want, which you obviously do. It is always possible the prof made a mistake, so it is not a bad idea to check, but in all likelihood you misunderstood something that is clearly written on the syllabus (students do this all the time). Before you email her, you better have a close look at it. No need to waste other people's time just because you might not be able to read. Good luck. How to Get a Professor to Change Your Grade?
Professors make mistakes from time to time too. I'd just send her an e-mail and ask if she added in your extra credit. Even if (for whatever reason) you still get a C, at least you'll know that you tried then. Good luck!
Of course. You have the numbers to prove it. Email essentially what you posted here, and ask politely if she can look into it.

In person is better. Professors tend to deal with things like these very slowly.
Speak to her first to see if she made an error if she gives you the brush off and your sure you are right speak to your student union and make an appeal.
Are you sure you read the syllabus correctly? Are there penalties for absences, etc? If you are sure you understand every word, then you can contact your professor, but be sure you are more respectful than you have ever been in your life. If you have an attitude, you can kiss your chances goodbye.
9 extra points doesn't mean you got a 9% increase in your grade. Ask your professor how the extra credit is distributed into your grade.

Is it too late to have an old college professor change my grade?

Story time.

Spring quarter of 2008 I took a political science course online. Two weeks after the course had ended the grade for my final paper still wasn't up. As I went to email the teacher, I found an email from him, that he never received the paper. At this point I could still see my assignment that had been submitted in the online class but attached it in my email and. apologized. The teacher then said it was ';too late, I gave you your chance'; He then ignored my additional emails, attachments, screen prints proving it was turned in on time, and a phone call.

This lowered my grade to a 2.4.My problem is, I recently found out that anything below a 2.5 doesn't get political science credit, but only an elective credit (my electives are already fulfilled). This makes one starving college student very sad.

Advice, please?! A counselor told me it's never too late for the grade to be changed, but not at her discretion. I just don't know how to attack this after it's been so long.Is it too late to have an old college professor change my grade?
Talk to the dean about this issue. You'll need to go above him. However, I would try one more time with this particular teacher, armed with your evidence ammo. If no dice and he doesn't budge, go up the ladder. You have recourse, just not with him.

Good luck.Is it too late to have an old college professor change my grade?
See if you can petition. go to the Dean or the ombudsman (Ombudsperson, to be politically correct) and petition. You can prove you turned it in on time.
Go to the dean of your department. That person is the only one who can override a professor.

How do I get my teacher to change my grade???

Well I turn in this paper in but that day it was a substitute. When she came back weeks later, she gave me a zero and said I didn't do the work because she couldn't find it. Anyways I didn't understand what was going on but I kept telling that I did it and even other people in the class told her they saw me doing it so she said I can redo it. when I turned the new paper in, she just put it in the corner by the trash so I immediately told a counselor. Since my counselor wasn't there for the whole week, I asked another one and she told me to just talk to her and wait a couple of weeks. Well I wasn't sure if she was telling the truth so the week after, I talked to my counselor. He said the same thing. Now I've been waiting for a month and she still hasn't changed the grade. I recently asked her and she said i'll get to them soon. Tuesday, I talked to my counselor again and he emailed her saying that she needs to call my mom to have a meeting but she never called or replied.what should idoHow do I get my teacher to change my grade???
You get your parents involved. You've done everything that you can personally -- it's time for your parents to intercede. They need to schedule an appointment with the teacher, the counselor and even the principal if necessary. What happened to you is unacceptable and your parents need to make the known to the office. Ask them to get involved asap, because depending on when the marking period ends, it may be too late to have the grade counted. How do I get my teacher to change my grade???
make a meeting with the principal.

its the only way to make stubborn teachers like that have any respect for you and your situation

good luck =]
have your mom call the school. or even better yet she should just show up and speak to your teacher. once a parent gets involved they try and resolve their issues.
You should tell your mom and your mom needs to meet your techer so you can get things straighten out, and ask your teacher why she did not grade it.

  • Which is more important for a class in your opinion attendance or test grades?

Some of my classmates were complaining that a kid who has missed like 10 days of class received a higher grade than they did overall for the course. He got great grades on all his tests even higher than the students who have never missed any class and now the teacher is contemplating changing his grade because of all the complaining which I think is bull. He studied hard just like everyone else. Just because he missed a few classes doesn't mean he should get less of a grade. By less of a grade I mean she was talking about taking it down about one or two. Meaning if he would get a high B it would go down to like a C or high D. How unfair!!! Or at least to me it is.Which is more important for a class in your opinion attendance or test grades?
This depends on the nature of the class. If it was strictly lecture then I think the grade should stand. But if the class involves participation such as a lab, then attendance is important.

For me attending classes leads to better grades because it helps me focus more on what should or should not study in huge massive books!!Which is more important for a class in your opinion attendance or test grades?
the kid should get what he earned, not what the class thinks he should get. so what if he missed class and was still able to get a good grade? if attendance was not outlined in a syllabus as being something that contributed to his grade, then the teacher should not be able to change his grade.
in my opinion attendance isn't important. as long as you learn what is being thought, thats fine. it's even better than being present in class but hasn't learned at all.

I have been grounded for 3 months because of poor grades. Why?

I have been grounded from everything i enjoy for the past 3 months. I am 15 years old and because of my poor grades I have not been able to hang out with my friends, have a cell phone, or leave the house. In the past school year my grades have been going down, but i study everyday and have been working extremely hard to bring them up. I am not the type of person who would slack off in school and no matter how hard i try i can not raise them to my parents expectations. This is not a new event as my parents grounded me last year for the same reason many different times. Being grounded has not changed my grades and has cost me my whole sophomore year and also caused me to have to quit my rock band, which i loved. Does anyone have any advice on getting out of my punishment or raising my grades? It would be greatly appreciated.I have been grounded for 3 months because of poor grades. Why?
I also have a sophomore child and we also ground her for her grades. But there are rules to the grounding, First she needs to go and see if there is any extra credit that can be done with the teacher. She has one full week of no tv, phone, computer, friends, or boyfriend and chores to do around the house. Sit down and maybe give your parents some different forms of punishment, that is what our daughter did and it has worked out so far. She has been pulling A's and B's for the past 4 years.I have been grounded for 3 months because of poor grades. Why?
you are simply ';grounded'; off these things cuz you need that extra time to actually get yourself in check;; if your grades go up %26amp; down, I will guarantee you that it is not in the info that is given to you;; if your grades go up %26amp; down, it's not cuz you ';don't get it';;; if your grades go up %26amp; down, it's not that you can't keep them up;; your grades go up %26amp; down cuz you 1) don't care, then all of a sudden you realize, or are told, that you will get into trouble, or 2) you'd rather ';be'; somewhere else, or 3) your organizational skills really suck...take a look @ all those reasons, it's you, not your brain, but your heart;; you somehow need a reason to ';earn'; what you need;; well, your adult life, how about that for a reason to ';earn';...

my suggestion, figure out what will motivate you LONG TERM, %26amp; organize what ya gotta do by getting yourself on a strict schedule;; you'll find out soon enough that you really don't need all the time in the world to get A's....

    btw, good luck, sincerely!!
explain to them what while they want you to do well in school, you should be allowed a social life too. keeping you grounded for 3 months when it isn't even helping your grades isn't really a helpful thing to do. they should be talking to your teachers, not keeping you in the house.
Yahoo Answers has a section called homework. If you don't understand something, go to Homework, and ask for help.

Secondly, I live in Garland, Texas (USA). All our school offer free tutoring after school for any student needing help. Is this available in your school district?

I do volunteer tutoring at our local public library. The students whom I tutor are usually on the A B honor roll after I work with them for a while. Ask your teachers and the librarian at your public library if they know of any free tutoring programs. I'm sure that there are a lot of people like me who want to make the world a better place by volunteering as a tutor.

The reason's there, you just have to look for it two lines above this one. It's rude I agree, but thats the answer to your question.
If you are really trying to raise your grades , ask your parents to help you ... then they can see your effort .

What is the formula to see how a certain grade will change your average in a class?

just add all the numbers up(with the grade your not sure about) and then divide by all the numbers...or just add that grade to your average and then divide by 2...its simple

The way I was taught, I end my essays with the thesis statement, a sentence in the introduction that explains what you will be talking about throughout your essay. How to write an ending to a persuasive essay?
you should re-state your thesis statement. then bring up your main points again. then write and emotional conclusion. Say things like ';This IS'; not like ';I think'; your trying to persuade people. Get your point across aggressively and with emotion.

  • Why do fifth grade students' attitudes change such that they are not as emotional as they were previously?

From fourth to fifth grade, students change. Something happens and their attitudes towards life changes to the point that they are different emotionally. They just seem different. I want to know what this change is and if you all could provide some evidence, perhaps books or online resources. Something to note is that if you know of government funded programs that are trying to do something about this, such as Mentoring, Tutoring, or other programs such as AmeriCorps; I would greatly appreciate knowledge on how these programs are dealing with this problem. What works and what doesn't work for the programs would be greatly appreciated. Scientific research results would also be appreciated. Thanks Yahoo users! Why do fifth grade students' attitudes change such that they are not as emotional as they were previously?
I think it is the fear of others thinking they are UN-cool, I know when I was that age, your body starts changing, you are painfully aware of your physical self, and others would make fun at anything that was ';different'; to them because no one wanted to stick out. For fear of getting harassed, girls where and are especially cruel about this. And for the comment made by Bianca, you obviously have no manners... duh.Why do fifth grade students' attitudes change such that they are not as emotional as they were previously?
Really? I AM THAT AGE! some peeps are really mean and say theyre better than the rest, and they arent afraid. they lie that that happened to get attention. I was the most hated girl in my class and i had 2 friends...oh well and Bianca, you are so WRONG...

bcuz ther going through stages DUHH!!!
I don't have any evidence, but I think it is because they are the dest ones in the school. Now they are the ';cool'; kids. Plus by the time they reach 5th they played all the games and they think they need to show all their friends how cool they are. Plus, they are building the reputation that will take them through middle school. I'd be interested to find out if there is any research on this. If you learn of some please feel free to email me. Interesting question.

Is it a crime for a school secretary to sabotage grades on a transcript? If so, how serious is it?

A friend of mine has a daughter in highschool. She gets mostly A's %26amp; B's on her report card and always makes the honor roll. She recently needed a copy of her transcript and noticed that classes she knew she had all A's and B's in on her report card, had a ';C'; average for the year on the transcript. After going over grades on report cards and previous transcripts, she discovered that many grades had been changed, (lowered, never raised) which significantly lowered her class rank. When this was brought to the schools attention, grades were corrected on the transcript, but all the school did was make excuses for the secretary who had changed the grades, saying it had to have been an honest mistake. The grades were not changed on the report cards, only after they were entered on the transcript, so it didn't make sense? This girl is the secretary's neice. My friend thinks the secretary (her own sister) sabotaged her daughter's grades on purpose becayse they have never gotten along?????????Is it a crime for a school secretary to sabotage grades on a transcript? If so, how serious is it?
Yes. She knowingly commited fraud to harm someone. She could also get sued for damages. In most civil trials, you need documentation. In this case however, you reasonably have all the proof you could get. The report card. I strongly suggest your friend find a civil attorney. The attorney hopefully can request trasncripts to see what other mistakes where made, or at least get testimoney of what other mistakes where made. Hypothetically if no other mistakes where made, aside from lowering the grades of the niece, of which family she has a personal grudge with, then you definitely would have something. Also you have to take what the principal has to say with a grain of salt. He would have something to loose by getting information like this public. Is it a crime for a school secretary to sabotage grades on a transcript? If so, how serious is it?
Very serious. She can be charged criminally and sued civilly. The school board could also be sued. If you report her to the principal and the school board she should lose her job if what you say is true. Who ever you initially reported this to is also guilt of neglect so report her also. Make sure the principal and school board knows the relationship of the woman to the victim. Don't give up. Call a reporter and get some press for it. That always gets action from reluctant public officials.

Writing a letter of complaint to teacher?

I want to write a letter to teacher telling him that i disagree with the grade he gave me on two papers that were revisions of old papers, and would appreciate it if he changed the grades. How can i voice this complaint in a sincere and non-violent method through email?Writing a letter of complaint to teacher?
Explain to him clearly that you don't think the grade you recieved is fair. The best way to handle this situation is to grab it by the horns and throw it head on. If you be too nice and dissmissive he could take it too lightly, but if your violent he could take it in the wrong way. Word choice is really important, expecially through email.

Give him examples on why you don't feel he graded these papers correctly, and make sure you have points to back it up. Also the best thing you could do is actually go up to this teacher and tell him face to face, that could make him respect you a bit more. But if your not comfortable with that I can totally understand..I'm the same way.

If he doesn't listen you can allways go to the guidance cousnelor and try to have them help you out. I'm sure if you write a good enough letter that your teacher will have nothing to argue with. Ask a couple of people to help you revise it if you have to, good luck!Writing a letter of complaint to teacher?
is there a school councillor you could get to help you with this
I think it's a good idea to write a letter of complaint. And it's also a good idea to be sincere and non-violent. It shows you are polite but have initiative.

The first thing I suggest is to write two letters. The first won't be delivered and the second will. I find when I write letters about stuff like this, the first turns out to be a bit fiery and not-so-nice. When I write the second, I've calmed down a lot and can think clearly when writing.

Try writing in a formal manner. Start off with ';Dear Mr. (insert teacher's name)';. Don't take up a lot of space if you don't need to. The teacher will most likely not appreciate reading three pages of fluff. But don't make it too brief either.

State clearly and concisely why you disagree. It might be helpful to write this like an essay: an introduction, three points each stating why you'd like your grades changed, and a conclusion.

Remember to keep calm and to think in a polite and respectful manner. It will flow into your letter.

I hope this helps. You may wish to finish up with a closing such as, ';Thank you,'; or ';Best Regards,';. Don't use contractions such as can't or won't, but instead the full phrases, like cannot and will not.
To be brutally honest, I wouldn't email a teacher or instructor a complaint. Even, if it is the nicest toned letter in the world it can still be taken wrong..

if you want to talk to the teacher talk to them in person, even if it is hard :)
I am sorry that your teacher made such a tragic mistake and i agree it's good to keep a cool head and write a letter just explaining that you worked hard on these subjects and papers and would like to please know why they did not get a better grade..That's harsh that he did not even look at one and just probably breezed thru the other..I wish you good luck in getting this matter solved.' as soon as possible... How many marks do I need to get a C in GCSE Higher Maths?

    Hey ppl

I just had a maths exam and I need to know how many marks do I need to pass. I heard that they change the grade boundries every year. Is that true?

Thanx evry1How many marks do I need to get a C in GCSE Higher Maths?
Depends what exam board it was. Yes they will change the grade boudaries each year as the questions are different.

The thing is you don't know what marks you may or may not be given, so it's almost impossible to say what grade you'd get anyway... in any case lots of luck I hope you get the grade you want. How many marks do I need to get a C in GCSE Higher Maths?
The grade depends on the way the exam is marked, some years, if an exam paper is considered easy, they up the grade boundaries!!

But a good rule of thumb is that if you get at least 40% in the higher paper you should get a ';C';.

If the papers each have a total mark of 100, you need to get an average mark of 40 for each paper or a total mark of 80 for both papers.
    Generally:

    C - 28-35%

    B - 43-50%

    A - 60-65%

    A* - 75-80%

It depends on how easy the paper is, the mock was so hard in my school that it was 28% for a C but on another day It could be 35%.

Math is one of the hardest subjects so the boundaries are usually quite a lot lower.
out of 100 marks you need a minimum of 35-45 marks to get a C in mocks as far as I know, B - 46 or sumthing like that, im not fully sure, sorry
is the examboard edexcel cos if it is the answers are on www.thestudentroom.co.uk so you can chek your percent i reckon a C would b about 40%
It depends on how hard the exam is.

    a B is 60%

    so i'm guessing a C is around 40-50%?
    50 - 59% is normally a C

but if you think you got 70% that might just be a A - well done! :D

  • Failed a college course, talked to the professor, but he was no help. What should I do?

    I am just 2 semesters away from graduating. I had everything in line and planned out. Unfortunately I failed a class that was part of my major requirements. I do fine in my other classes and I'm taking senior classes and getting great grades. I'm terrible at all these multiple choice tests. And I took a class and the only thing he graded on was 3 multiple choice tests. That's it. No papers...no attendance points...just 3 tests. Well me being not so good at this, didn't do so hot on my tests. I failed my final really bad. If I would've done good I most likely would've passed he said. I went to talk with him, and finally he said he'd let me take another test. No promises on grade changing, but take it to see how I do. I leave his office, go home, and 15 minutes later he calls back and says ';Nevermind don't show up. This is the easiest class you'll ever have to take. There's nothing I can do for you.';

Now I'm not sure if I should talk to the Dean or what or retake it anyway.Failed a college course, talked to the professor, but he was no help. What should I do?
I truly sympathize with you, as I also have trouble taking inclass exams. The only real option you have now is to ask the prof again, and if he says no, I'm afraid you have to bite the bullet and take the class again. I would make it a point to stress with the prof that you simply have trouble taking exams (this doesn't always work, but it doesn't hurt to at least get it out there) and you would be happy to demonstrate knowledge to him if given another opportunity. That is precisely what I would say, and see if he goes for it. If not, then you're really in no worse of a situation than you are right now.

As for the exams themselves, it really is a good idea to talk to the prof after every exam that you do poorly on. Sometimes that's hard because classes have maybe one midterm and then a final (I took a class this last quarter that had one midterm and one final.....I got 100% on the midterm, but my girlfriend of almost a year broke up with me the night before the final and I did horribly on it, enough to drop to a B-, which in grad school at UCLA is basically failing since it doesn't count towards the PhD unless it's B or higher), but try to keep on top of it as best as you can. Make it clear that you are putting in the effort and are understanding the material and that you're simply having trouble with exams. Many profs will catch on and that can only help you.

I'm sorry I'm not more helpful with this. It's a problem I'm frustrated with myself right now. Just keep fighting through it and you'll get there. Good luck!Failed a college course, talked to the professor, but he was no help. What should I do?
There is really nothing the Dean can do at this point. If you had spoken to the professor after the first test about how to do better on the other two, the professor may have been able to help you, but the only mistake he seems to have made was to suggest he would give you another test in the first place - my guess is that he was a new professor, and after he spoke with colleagues, they pointed out to him that this would be unfair to the rest of the class! I'm also assuming that you knew from the outset, probably from the syllabus, that your whole grade would depend on these tests (that's nothing - I've had classes depend on ONE test, or on one paper), so you really should have acted much earlier if you knew you had trouble with tests. I don't say this to insult you, but we all have trouble with one thing or another, and a lot of students learn the hard way that they need to stay on top of those classes they know they will struggle with. You don't have much choice but to retake the class.
If the majority of the class is failing, then it's a problem. But if only you and a few are failing the class, then maybe you're not studying enough or doing your best.
Why would you talk to the Dean? YOU failed it. You didn't study hard enough. Multiple choice tests aren't an excuse for failure.

You can ask for the exam to be re-graded to make sure that the machine didn't malfunction. But, if it's your answers that are wrong, it's you who failed. It sucks, but the responsibility falls on you.

Take the course again, study more, work on practicing multiple choice tests, and take responsibility for yourself.
A students first option is almost always to go directly to the professor. If that option is completely exhausted, then you should check your school's grading appeal process, which is usually fairly extensive. It may be to the academic dean or department head, but there are usually time deadlines, so get to it! Check your school's website and try a search.

However, it doesn't sound like there were any extenuating circumstances, so I'm not sure what grounds you have for getting another chance. Better come up with some reason why you did so poorly (especially if it was on all 3 tests) and be able to demonstrate that you really do know the material and deserve at least a low passing grade.
There's really nothing you can do. You failed the tests. He didn't make you fail. It's not his fault that you're not good at multiple choice tests. He is not required to let you retake anything. This is life. He did nothing wrong. I've had classes where my entire grade rests on one paper. A lot of college professors will rest everything on a few tests or assignments. Just retake the course. Practice taking multiple choice tests and learn how to make them work for you.

As for changing his mind, he can do this. He doesn't owe it to you to let you retake the test. You failed it. He probably changed his mind because in the real world when you leave college there are no retakes.
`I would advice you to take a retest, don't waste your time in finding ways to avoid it . Going to the dean is also a waste of time, as the professor will be the one giving you the marks, so don't aggravate him, and start studying again. In fact if you have any study problems go to your professor and ask him, this will show him that you are serious about your studies, all the best
I was in a similar situation as an undergrad (I failed two classes): a huge four-credit calculus class (which I definitely did not retake) and a ballet class that I needed to finish my dance minor. I failed that during senior year for ... well ... rotten attendance. I can't wake up before noon.

It was jerkish of the professor to offer you another test in person and then call you on the phone to tell you he suddenly changed his mind. Something not quite right. _Do_ - contrary to what other respondents have said - appeal to a dean. They are your advocates. It's what they get paid for. Appeal to anyone you can who thinks s/he can help you. And talk to your advisor - advisors can be great help. A wonderful English department advisor helped get me through my failures - among other things, including therapy for depression.

It's not so bad if you have to retake the class. It's what I did with my ballet class - and you'll be far more determined (if only by anger) to do well the second time. The failure won't destroy your GPA; mine didn't. And it shouldn't prevent you from graduating on schedule; you'll just have to pile 3 more credits onto your class load one of these upcoming semesters. If you take the class again, TAKE IT WITH A DIFFERENT PROFESSOR.

I also did crappy in classes with boring old-timer professors who graded on the traditional three exams. In pedagogical theory, this memorization/regurgitation method of teaching has been bashed pretty much since the 1920s. Humanities professors who still adhere to this pedagogy (because, as we should all know, people do not _learn_ from taking multiple-choice tests) are either lazy or have not stayed abreast of recent research and development in the field of education (something that is part of a teacher's job description). Don't feel ashamed to let your dean and others know about this.

    Best luck.
You need to go back and talk to him again. If he still declines another test for you, talk to the Department Head. If they don't help you, go to the Dean. They should have a departmental challenge exam that you can take to prove that you understand the material.

Multiple choice tests are easy...but they are easy to mess up, too. You have to narrow the answers down to what makes sense. I had a Psych professor who gave 5 choices on her multiple choice tests. 3 were wrong, 2 were right...but 1 was more right than the other. Figure that one out!?
give challenging papers, or required provisional degree on convocation and said to teacher that sir take exams after convocation.

How do I get my teacher to change my unfair grade (I am deserving)?!!!?

I worked really really hard this term to get my average in her class up to an A. I asked her right before the end of the term if I was in the 91-92% range and she said ';probably';.

She was happy with me all term... yet she gave me an 88 on my report card!!!!!!!!! (but a 90 for whole year, which does NOT go on college transcripts) I REALLY wanted an A, so I am wondering how I might email her and very politely ask her to change the grade/ ask if a mistake was made.

I am not usually very articulate with these things, so I'm wondering if anybody has any suggestions or even a sample letter I could write her.How do I get my teacher to change my unfair grade (I am deserving)?!!!?
Honestly I'd definitely write to her and ask about it. You could try something like this:

    ';Dear Mrs/Mr Teacher,

    I got my final grade on my report card and am a little confused. You wrote in the comments 'This almost maniacal determination to earn an “A” has paid off, both in terms of his grade and in terms of the intellectual growth that has taken place this term.' but I received a ';B'; in your class. I truly appreciate your comments toward me, they make me feel like I did a very good job. However, I was under the impression that I did A-level work and was going to be receiving the grade of an ';A'; on my report card. I just wanted to know if there may have been a mistake, and if there wasn't, why I received the grade that I did. Thank you SO much for your time and for a great year/semester in your class! Sincerely, You';

How did YOU change from 6th grade to 8th grade?

When you first started middle school, what was your personality like?

How is it different than after you graduate middle school?

Did you change? Did you start to grow up more?

Just curious because I have to write a speech for graduation about how middle school has changed me.

Best answer = 10 pts! :DHow did YOU change from 6th grade to 8th grade?
I had a very interesting change.

I've started to be mature about topics.

I've started learning how to live life better.

When I first became a middle school student I was immature about topics that were uncomfortable.

In 7th grade I finished some body growth.

In 8th grade I've started becoming more independent.

My personality was starting to open up more.

English teacher argument PLEASE HELP to change my grade?

Ok I turned in a great essay for english 2 Preap I'm in 10th grade. My teacher is a male and he doesn't like giving away A's. I thought my essay was great and so did many other people. I had a couple of mistakes but not enough to get a C- which he gave me. How do i convince him to change it to at least a B-. What argument can i great. I know that he's gonna say i need more work to craft it. I think he gives me bad grade knowing that what i turn in is good inorder to get the most out of me. But i really need at least a B-. PLEASE HELPEnglish teacher argument PLEASE HELP to change my grade?
have him show you exactly whats wrong with you paper, then when he shows you what he thinks is wrong, give him you opinion on what you think is wrong and right about the paper. tell him how much time and research you spent. dont leave out details. speak to him privately after or before school. tell him why you think you deserve a b and ask him why he thinks you deserve a c. reason it out. make sure to look him in the eye. dont show any sign of worry, fear, or anything that will make him look more important just cus hes an adult. stand up for yourself. be persistant and determined. argue soon cus if you wait to long the paper wont have meaning anymore. try to not beg obviously, but if you have to ask more than twice thats for sure. be strong. good luck with him. at least your not asking for and A. all you want is a B. you being reasonable. you can face him.English teacher argument PLEASE HELP to change my grade?
Ask him if he'd let you attempt to correct your mistakes. That will prove to him that you've earned a better grade than he thinks.
If a teacher doesn't give ';A';'s what is the incentive to work in that class?
I hope that's not how you wrote in your paper! You don't sound like a Pre-AP student to me.

    But to answer your question...

Cut your essay into parts. Point out how each point was relevant to the paper, how you gave crucial information to add to your essay rather just to fill space. Also, show where you made points or questions that deepen your essay and really get to the heart of things.

If, after looking at your essay again, you can't think of anything to say, you probably deserved the C-. I was an honors student throughout high school... it took me awhile to learn what separated a good essay from a great one. Good luck.
I can't really give you an arguement without ever having read your paper.

    Sorry, but good luck!
Ask him for his rubric or another way he grades essays. Ask if he can show you specific reasons why he marked you down. Do this privately before or after school. As a teacher, I can tell you I'm much more apt to be agreeable in private than if I have to maintain my authority in front of the whole class.

After he tells you why he marked you down tell him you really want to earn a B and ask if you can redo the paper. If he says no, tough luck. But if he gives you another chance, make sure you understand exactly what he wants you to do. Then do it quickly (within the next few days).

And no matter what he says, be calm and mature. Don't get emotional or argumentative. If you approach him respectfully this will really help your case.

How to get my mom to say yes?

I want to go to canada this weekend and my mom is saying no because my grades arent good enough. I have one D the rest are A's and B's. Im good kid. I dont get in trouble at school or drugs. I get along with my parents. How can i get her to say yes to canada.?

By the way I cant change my grade because its the end of the sem.How to get my mom to say yes?
Canada is great. She should so let you go.

Okay. Tell her to focus on the A's and B's that you got. Tell her that the D, whatever subject it is, you will improve it for next term/semester. Say that if you don't improve it, she could punish you however she wants then. Tell her how important it is to go to Canada. Maybe say you'll buy her something there? Be polite when asking her, and don't forget to actually raise your mark by the time the next report card comes. Ask your teacher for help after class? A tutor?

Good luck. I'll wave if I see you here, lol. (I live in Canada...)How to get my mom to say yes?
my mom said she wishes i kill myself and that she wishes she had a miscarriage with me bcoz i had a D too.

and the rest are A's and B's like urs..

so well count urself lucky that ur mom does not hate you
Ask your mother, at the end of the school year.
Maybe if you explained to her why you got a d in that class, like if you had a hard time with the teacher or with the subject. Maybe tell her that you will get extra tutoring in the next subject that you struggle with.
    she won't change her mind
Listen to your mom. She's doing what's best for you, not trying to make your life miserable. Perhaps next time the D will be a C or B because you thought of the consequences, and tried harder. Kids shouldn't always get what they want just becuase they want it. Look around at the bratty, loser adults - they were once spoilt children who always got their way.
yes your grades are VERY good. some parents just have this unnoticeable habit of pushing their kids over the limit. in my opinion you do deserve to go. but i wouldn't know how to convince her. show her your report card and ask her what does she not like about it.
explain to her that you understand why she is upset but there is nothing that you can do about it immediately. if she's worried about you getting bad grades in the future, promise to come back from canada and work out a plan: see a tutor, invite over a friend who is good in that subject so you can do your homework together etc. show her that you are acting on this and not just worming out of it to get what you want.
    lol

and i thought my mom was evil

    good luck with her!!!!

    you'll need it!!
Make a deal with her. If you can get your D up to a B at least, then you can go at the end of the year.

HOw long does it take a teacher to change a grade in college?

Okay..so i got a B in a class when I should have gotten an A. I had a paper given out on the last day of class that showed my grade which was an A. THe only thing left was some presentation thing, which I got an A in.... Then when I chekced my grade last Tuesday I got a B in the class. SO I emailed her, and she emailed back the next day, and said she made a mistake. She said she would change it ASAP. But its Friday now, and its still not changed...I just chekced. So how long does it take for the grade to be changed usually?HOw long does it take a teacher to change a grade in college?
Your teacher probably put in the correction right away, but the school may not have updated their system yet. Go in person to the records and transcripts department and ask them how long the change takes. Have a COPY of the e-mail from the teacher with you as proof that your grade should be changed, and then they can tell you how long until it is posted correctly.

Do kids change in grade 11?

Hey everyone I'm in grade 10 and I'm wondering if kids start to grow up next year? Both last year and this year I've noticed that kids are so immature and they are at the peak of acting stupid. I'm the type of kid who's quiet and does their work but I look around and I see everyone acting like little kids. I don't feel like I'm better than anyone but like when I go to lunch I have some aquaintances that I it with. They make weird noises and laugh uncontrollably and I sit there and wonder how it's so funny. I have some friends, but only one of them is pretty close to my maturity level. I'm not a stick in the mud either, I love having fun with people but I don't understand the people my age, all they do is swear and make dumb jokes, then they look at me and I feel pressured to laugh but it's not funny... Do you guys/girls have any advice and knowledge about this, and will this change a bit by next year? These past two years I feel like I'm with little stupid kids who need to grow upDo kids change in grade 11?
mentally, the average human is not fully matured until about 25. mentality and perspective have the potential to change drastically from high school to college to adult life...especially factoring in societal expectations and social hierarchy.

this is part of my observational hypothesis of why divorce rates are so high. many 22 year old college grads feel that society expects them to marry right out of college. three or four years later, both individual's priorities have changed and it doesn't work out.Do kids change in grade 11?
Dont be pressured, your probably more mature than your peers but listen, the worst thing to do is to grow up. Dont ever grow up and become a miserable old adult. Have fun and relax. Dont rush into anything.
Some people just mature more faster then other people.
I can see where you're coming from. I am in 10th grade and I see many guys act stupid all the time. All I do is to try to accept them for who they are and try to make the best out of it! I'd advise you to ignore them and hang around more mature people (other friends, ex-teachers).
Oh, some kids never grow up. Everyone does mature at different rates, and some people just never quite get there. I know adults who still act like that... sigh. Just keep up your own self improvement and don't worry about having only a few friends, that just means you've got some discretion and care when choosing your companions. I was much like that myself at your age, it is not a bad thing.
Kids can mature mentally anytime, but most kids mature at a very late age these days because they think that they're invincible and they also try to be cool by taking drugs and all of that other stuff. I'm in 8th grade and I'm in the exact same situation as you, even though I only matured mentally when I was about to turn 13. I get headaches just thinking about how screwed up teens are today.

Just do what I do. Stay as mature as possible (feel free to be childish from time to time), try to hang out with friends that aren't sick in the head, and wait patiently for the other kids to mature.

How will a college know if your transcript is right?

I mean...When your counsler prints it out and you have a bad grade, cant you simply retype it on the computer and change your grade then send your transcript to the college

Will they find out that you typed it yourself even though it look that same as the real transcript??How will a college know if your transcript is right?
Colleges require official transcripts. That means they must come directly from one college to another without passing through your hands.

Edit: If it doesn't Come directly from School to School, it is NOT the official transcript. So there is no ';You'; sending it in.How will a college know if your transcript is right?
This is why colleges generally require sealed transcripts (in an envelope with the school's official seal covering the closure) or that the transcript is sent directly from the school.
your transcript needs to be ';official' which means it needs the school seal stamped on the front...which only the school can do for you.
College will only accept original from your school sent directly to them
A high school transcript? Well mine couldn't very easily be copied.. for one it was on a long *** sheet of paper, plus it had a seal, plus it had a signature PLUS i couldn't open it because they would be able to tell if the signed seal was broken.

I think the college might be asking for an OFFICIAL trancscript, which is something like what I just mentioned. Check into that cause that's important!!
    dunno no
don't be so worried about the bad grade... find a school that will help you through those weak areas of academia...like a community college...boost your scores there and then go to what ever big college you were intending to go to...

its less pressure than committing a fraud.. and easier on your performance if you just do the right thing first.

How do you stop your dad from calling your school because of your report card?

ok so i got my report card and i changed 2 grades!! now my dad i have no idea why but wants to call the school to see if i didt change the grades i dont no y tho???? im so scared i dont no wat to 2 do??? help!! plzz!!How do you stop your dad from calling your school because of your report card?
I have lied to my rents and believe me it doesn't work. The best thing to do is tell him the truth but now he will probably not trust u with ur next report cards. My parents don't trust me any more. If u confess he will probably punish you for lying and you will have your teachers to answer to as well. Think about it though, if ur dad rings in you will be in even more trouble then I am sure it is worth. Yeah he will be upset but if he don't trust u now then what have you got to lose. Tell him you are very sorry and that you didn't want him to be too disappointed in you- play on his heart string a little, then u may get off easier. But be honest, every one will be happy then. How do you stop your dad from calling your school because of your report card?
Confess! You will probably get let off easier (less punishment). He will trust you more.
You need to tell your father the truth and take whatever punishment....Because if he calls the school, you will have your father and the school on your back....
Did you think you would not get caught? Now you are in more trouble for changing your grades than you would have for just the bad grades to begin with. Get better grades and you won't have this problem.
You're pretty much screwed. Don't worry though.

    Tell him this:

I tried to get my grades back up but it was too late. I knew you would be disapointed in me, so I changed them. I promise I'll get better ones next time semester.
    honesty is best
sounds like ur scared of him. if he hits u tell on him.
First of all you should not have changed them then you would not be asking this question. My advice to you is just sit back and take the punishment you are going to get from your parents and then go to school and improve you grades and then you won't have to try to get away with changing your grades
the only way to stop him is that if u get a good marks ....... n my opinion is to tell him da truth that u had changed somtin . n tel him that u was so scare to tell u n very shy ..he will understand it dear GOD WLLING its better to tell da truth to ur father ..cuz if u father call da school he will find out ...n ur teachers will be mad n they will never belive u any more ....in future that is if ur father call them so HURRY up n convice ur father n tel him next time i'll do goood ......no matter wat happen still he is ur father ..dear

notin better then my opionin i gues i know understand u really i feel wat u r going thru..................

  • How should I change an incorrect grade on my final report card? - school is out.?

I am supposed to have an A according to the final grade my teacher told me in class, but the report card I recieved by mail today, says a B. I need to fix it, how should I do it?How should I change an incorrect grade on my final report card? - school is out.?
Call the school or go by and discuss it with them.

The way our grading system goes, is they take your average from the end of the first nine weeks in a semester class and your average from the end of the second nine weeks.

They average the two together to get your average.

    Maybe it's correct.

I'd go by the school though. How should I change an incorrect grade on my final report card? - school is out.?
Double check with the school. If you're transcript or DARS report reflects what the teacher says you have, it won't be an issue (I've had clerical errors lead to financial aid foul-ups, so I know it can be a headache).

But if you're in high school and this is just a matter of showing your folks the real grade, I'd get a signed letter from the school to accompany, just to show you made that effort.
you should email the teacher with your problem and the schools are still probably open for summer school, so there should be at least one guidance counselor or someone who knows what to do with the incorrect grade that can help you out. you should quickly do what you can, before its too late. actually it may not be too late, cuz a girl at my school got her p.e. grade changed from freshmen year the week before graduation, so anything is possible.
your guidance office is likely open a limited number of hours every week. stop by the school or call to find out when these hours are and insist that they look into it.

How Important Are Final Transcripts at University of Illinois?

I'm getting a D in one class but above a C in the rest, an A in two classes, and a B in two others. Plus I'm taking three AP clases and the D wouldn't hurt my GPA dramatically, or my class rank. In fact it would stay the same as before. I'm worried I won't be able to change my grade though, So I need some assurance. Well I'm in High School and I got accepted at the university, do you guys think they'll reject me if i get a D, and i'm trying really hard, but only a couple weeks left to raise my grade. How Important Are Final Transcripts at University of Illinois?
Usually the last semester is meaningless unless you completely blow it.How Important Are Final Transcripts at University of Illinois?
You need to get a C in all classes. UIC doesn't like to see Ds in that final high school semester.

How should I appeal my academic probation';drop';? What are my other options?

I go to college at University of Wisconsin - Madison. I was on probation first semester and had to get better than a 1.5 in order to stay in the university's system, I recieved a 1.4 this semester. I took a heavy work load and have contacted all of my professors about possible grade changes but none of the outlooks are positive. I know what I did wrong this semester (i.e. skipping classes %26amp; not studying enough) but I really want to stay in school and have already registered for classes that interest me for the fall semester, but being dropped I will be out of the system for one year. There is an appeals form and process that I can do, but does anyone have any pointers or have past expierence that would help me out and help me to stop stressing so much? If anyone can give any sort of help, I would be very greatful. Thank you.How should I appeal my academic probation';drop';? What are my other options?
Generally the folks on the appeals board don't want to hear excuses so much as your plans for improving your grades. Keep in mind - the University doesn't make any money by kicking you out, so they'd rather keep you there, but rules are rules. So, you have to go through this appeals process. For the most part, if you show some sincere effort in putting together the petition, your odds of the committee deciding in your favor are much higher. I recommend, at a MINIMUM, three letters of support regarding your ability to succeed at college classes - only one of which (if any) should be from a family member. If you can get the reference to give the letter to you in a sealed envelope (don't open it, of course), so much the better - it helps convince the committee that you didn't forge it. (Which doesn't make much sense, after all - why couldn't someone just put a forged letter into an envelope? Anyway, all I know is that it seems to help) Also, put a lot of thought into your personal essay - I'm assuming that the petition requires one. If it doesn't, write one anyway. You basically want to explain why you failed this semester as truthfully and briefly as possible. Then, explain IN DETAIL your plans for improvement, (such as how much time you plan to devote to studying per week, where you're going to study, what changes you plan to make in your lifestyle, etc.). If you do all that, I'd be shocked if they don't let you back in. After all, Madison does have a bit of a reputation as a party school. If they kicked everyone out for violating probation, I don't think they'd have many students left. :) Oh, and by the way - should your appeal be rejected, look into other schools in the area. Generally being suspended from one school does not prohibit you from taking classes at another, especially if you enroll as a non-degree seeking student at the other school (the credits will transfer regardless). If you do well in those classes, you could appeal the suspension again at the end of that semester, with an almost guaranteed success, since you could prove you're capable of decent grades. Feel free to ask me any questions you may have, either on here or by email: crazyophelia42@hotmail.com Good luck!

How do you change the grading scale for Stepmania?

About a year or so ago, I found out how to reprogram the grading scale for Stepmania. I changed it to whatever the scale was for In The Groove so it would be more accurate when I used an ITG2 skin. Since I've changed the skin to something not-ITG, the grading is off. Like I would get an E when I obviously passed with at least a B. So I tried to change it back, but it would revert to the crappy ITG scale. And now I can't remember what I did to change it in the first place.

I've already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the new version of Stepmania 3.9, and that didn't do anything. What can I do?How do you change the grading scale for Stepmania?
When you reinstall it, place it in a different folder OR just remove the files from the default folder.

The only problem is that the ITG files are still in the Stepmania folder.

Can a parent make/force a teacher to change a grade?

I have a student (3rd grade) who misbehaved 1/3 of the time in my classroom (a music class that he attends once a week). As a result, I gave him a conduct grade of ';n'; (needs improvement) on his report card for the grading period. His parent wants me to change the grade because she feels it is unfair. She thinks that, because he did not receive a discipline referral form, I need to change his grade. She has been emailing me constantly and copying the communication to my principal. In turn, I do the same. Her emails are becoming less friendly. In fact, I am starting to feel bullied by this parent. What's makes it more interesting is the fact that she, too, is a teacher in my district. I don't want animosity created, but the grade I indicated is the grade the student earned and I am not willing to change it. What can I say to this parent to get her to realize that I am not going to change it? I want my communication of this message to be one that doesn't reap any repercussions. I reviewed the student code of conduct and I know I am within my rights. I want to know if she or anyone can force me to change a grade? Should I contact my union? Anything else? I am trying to CYA.... because I don't know how far she intends to take this. Can a parent make/force a teacher to change a grade?
i've seen it happen to one of my friends. her mom is absolutely ridiculous and fights all her abttles. my friend earned the grade she got and because her mom was so pushy the teacher changed it. it wasn't fair at all because there were other kids who recieved grades lower than hers and didnt get them changed because their parents weren't as pushy as my friends.

so the answer is no. she cannot force you to change the grade, and you shouldn't let her bully you into it. if i were you i would send one more email clearly stating the following:

    1. you gave that student the grade for a reason, not to be mean or just because you could (state the resons even if she already knows them)

    2. you know you are within your boundaries as a teacher to give that grade and to not change it based on parental intervention

    3. you do not intend to change the grade, because this kid deserved that grade

    4. you are not willing to discuss this any longer with her

    5. you would be happy to answer any questions she has about the handbook regarding the grading policy and student behavior

and at the end, say ';thank you, (your name)'; you want to be firm, but not sound like you're being ';mean';. if she continues to email you, confront your principal and ask him/her how to end this properly. explain your side of the story and why you are nto willing to change the grade. your principal, if he/she has any common sense at all, will agree with your reasoning. do not, under any circumstances allow this parent to bully you into giving this child a grade he doesn't deserve. Can a parent make/force a teacher to change a grade?
A parent usually cannot 'force' a teacher to change a grade. In your case, it doesn't seem like the parent has a leg to stand on...

Firstly, the parent is off base in assuming that a disciplinary referral is the only way of handling a student's conduct. I hope that you documented ways in which you dealt with the student (time out, note sent home, etc.). This would support your case. It helps to keep a folder for each student in which you keep track of your corrective actions taken.

If you believe that a parent is becoming abusive in their communications with you, you do not have to keep up contact with that parent.

I would hope that your administration would back you up on this matter. If not, I would recommend that you contact your union. This would be especially useful if you fear that your principal is going to reprimand you because of this situation.

  • How can i change my grade from a f to an a??

Turn all the h/w you haven't done. Talk to the teacher about doing any extra credit AFTER you've turned in all your late assignments. Check answers with parents, friends, online resources.. study hard for tests...How can i change my grade from a f to an a??
Study hard, go to class, stop devoting all your attention in class to that chick you keep staring too hard at.How can i change my grade from a f to an a??
study more..maybe join a group of friends for a study club..and actually study..some have a study club and they do the oppisite good luck!!
With a pen of the exact same colour;)
turn in your late assignments, do extra credit and make sure from now on u get those assignments in on time!!!
Sure, sure you could turn in late work, study hard, try for some extra credit, etc, etc,

    BUT...

you could also sleep with the teacher.

    It's guaranteed.

Plus, if it doesn't work out, you can file a law suit and put the teacher out of work... indefinitely.
Short answer, talk to your teacher.

    Long answer:

    1. Study harder

    2. Study Longer

    3. Study better

    4. Get a study group together, either join one or start one

    5. Make up flash cards of the things you need to know. Have somebody quiz you on them every chance you get, especially when you are bored or waiting around

    6. Talk to your teacher about what you are doing wrong. Start making strategies to change your study habits, ask for some peer review before you hand in papers, ask for a chance to hand in the papers early to get some extra criticism before you actually have to turn them in.

    7. Ask for extra credit work, do some outside research, and do more than what's asked for in the assignment if it is allowed (yes, you should ask first)

    Hope this helps
A musician once asked a bus-driver for directions. ';How do I get to Carnage Hall?'; he asked.

    ';Practise,'; replied the bus-driver.

';How can I change my grade from ';F'; to ';A';?'; you asked.

The answer to your question is, ';work';.

Talk to your teacher about what he/she advises. Some assignments count for more than others. Do all your assignments, but put extra effort into the ones that count the most. Study hard and do your work on time. Go in for extra help. Ask for extra credit.

How would you change your middle school years?

Does anyone knows how to change my german school grades into american GPA ?

    Hello,

Can someone please help me. I want to study in the States next summer , and I have to calculate my GPA. How do I do this ? In germany we have a grading system from 1(very good) to 6 ( really bad) for each classtyp ( like math or biology,.....)

For example a german grade of 2 would be what american grade ( B ?) ?

I would be very happy for any help.

    Thanks,

J.ZDoes anyone knows how to change my german school grades into american GPA ?
It depends on the school you wish to attend. Some schools require that you have your transcript evaluated to complete the application process. Some schools have their own evaluation departments which handle the translation of foreign transcripts. So you would have to find out from the school its own process of handling foreign transcripts.Does anyone knows how to change my german school grades into american GPA ?

How can I make a drastic change in my grades?!? Pleas help, Im in 8th grade.?

I have a D in language and Algebra 1, I have a C in science, I have an A in American Cultures and english. Last year I was a straight A student, but I have been struggling a lot this year with school. I study 5 hours a day. I get up at 5 Am and study for 1 hr and 30 min, during school i study for 1 hr during study hall, and at home I study for 3 hr and 30 min. I always pay attention in school and take lots and lots of notes. I get extra help. During study halls and sometimes after school I always get help in the class I am struggling in. I dont know why im not doing good in school this year. I turn in all of my homework, its the tests that get me. I have a hard time processing things, it takes a while to click. Can you please give me some advice on how to improve my grades? I would really appreciate it,

thanks(:How can I make a drastic change in my grades?!? Pleas help, Im in 8th grade.?
It sounds like you're really freaking out, try not to panic, you're doing the right thing to ask for help now. Maybe try to approach studying in a different way, the method you're using might be sufficient for studying some subjects, but maybe you need to study differently for languages and algebra. Ask your teachers for some guidance. There are so many resources online - google them - to find different study methods and help for the subjects you are struggling most with. Try youtube or podcasts from itunes for help with languages. I also find youtube helpful for maths tuition.

Good luckHow can I make a drastic change in my grades?!? Pleas help, Im in 8th grade.?
Maybe you get freaked out with tests and then you forget everything you've studied, so then what you should do is just calm down and breathe.O.o
I think that you are too stressed out. Try and take deep breaths before a test. Remember that it's not the end of the world. Keep trying your best to get your grades up. I believe that it might be getting up too early to study. Try to tone down the studying a little bit. Hopefully, that will help.

    Does PowerSchool Affect My Grades?

Ever since my school changed their grading system to Power School, its harder for me to keep my grades at A(+,-) or even Bs. Now I'm getting Cs in Math. How can I get As again?Does PowerSchool Affect My Grades?
Powerschool just shows you your grades. Just look at the assignments and see if they have updated it, if they haven't its not your fault, but if they have then you need to start working harder.Does PowerSchool Affect My Grades?
it doesn't really have anything to do with power school. maybe you should just work a little harder and do all of your assignments and study for tests. but power school sucks and never works.

  • How can i explain the sudden change in my grades?

i'm going into my senior year of high school, and i'm starting to apply to colleges. my transcript is something like this: all A's and B's for my freshman and sophomore year. i was always a good student. but during junior year i went through a severe near life-ending depression, and my grades suffered throughout the whole year. my junior year grades are Bs and Cs for the most part, with one D+ (in precalculus). compared to my earlier grades, i fear it will jeopardize my changes of getting into colleges

i have plenty of extracurriculars and community service, but i'm wondering: is there an opportunity for me to make this known to the college administration, and for me to explain the sudden drop in my grades? How can i explain the sudden change in my grades?
You will definitely get into colleges, perhaps not the most exclusive colleges.

Every college application has some way for you to tell them about difficult circumstances. They want to hear why your grades dipped, but more importantly, that you overcame your difficulties. So along with explaining your depression, explain how you overcame it (seeking help, making peace with your past, etc.)How can i explain the sudden change in my grades?
just say your going through emotional difficulties
Just tell them there were some Personal Issues that were going on that year. They dont have to know what, its none of thier business. It could be anything froma death in the family, to your parents divorce. They will just acknowledge that and move on to the next question. Plus if most of your grades are very high they will focus on that more instead.
Include it in your essays. Don't try to make them feel sorry for you though, make it sound like you're taking full responsibility for what happened, etc. They DO read these essays. ;)

You might not get into like an Ivy League (not sure if you were interested in that anyway!) but you will still get into a good college. I know they say that junior year is the most important, but it is still only one year. It will affect your GPA, but not that much to completely destroy it. Good luck!

    ooh!! dude thats hard!

no actually not all girls would think you're flirting if you talk the right way...and I've been to a Muslim country and i had lesbian friends there that they couldn't say anything.you know its all about how you bring up the conversation..

    good luck

Dont believe that saying hello to anyone is a sign of flirting. Just do it. Dont try to hard, let conversations come naturally. Friendships are earned and not immediate. Good luck. How can I make some friendships on my first day?
Actual friendships are hard to make on a first day, give them time. Just look for people who seem nice and hang out with them and smile and talk. Not all talking is flirting, make sure you keep your distance and avoid physical contact with those you don't awnt to flirt with. You don't need to tell people you're gay in order to tell them you're not interested in them and just want to be friends.
Bring something interesting or wear something interesting. That would be a good conversation starter. Or just be really cheery %26amp;happy %26amp;out going. If that doesn't work, join clubs, or after school activites. Or if/when you're put into groups during class, that'll be the perfect opprotunity to have more of a sort of one on one communication to make friends. Good luck :)
Make it clear to a girl that you only want to be her friend when you introduce yourself. She may not believe you at first, but be friendly with her and share common interests. Strike up fun conversations that have little or nothing to do with relationships, and don't smother her.

It shouldn't be so hard after a while.

    Well... hope I helped!

How Can I Scan My Report Card To Microsoft Word, IMPORTANT?

and change the grades ??????? but has to be the exact form of the card !How Can I Scan My Report Card To Microsoft Word, IMPORTANT?
you need a scanner with OCR functionality/software, which can convert the images into textHow Can I Scan My Report Card To Microsoft Word, IMPORTANT?
you scan it with a scanner , but all this is hurting is you . it still affects your gpa and it still will make a diff. in college applications so the most your parents will do is ground you ? my teacher told me once that there was a boy that scanned his report card and when it was time for teacher conferences , his parents were asked to see his report cards and most schools have a watermark so its nearly impossible to copy it .
This will only make the problem worse. It cannot be done, unless you have specific software/hardware that most ordinary people do not posses. You brought this upon yourself, now suffer the consequences of your choices and actions. We learn from our mistakes, sometimes it takes something big to knock some sense into us and finally get us to change our ways.
You can not. It will always scan in as an image. you can not edit the text.
If you worked as hard in school as you are trying to do to cover up your sucky grades, you wouldn't need to do this.
    tsk tsk tsk
    Is this legal action?

How was 9th grade for you?

Did people you were friends with from middle school or 8th grade change or drift apart? Did the ';popular'; people become less popular or realized that it didn't really matter anymore and started opening up to different people that they probably wouldn't of talked to in middle school?

Was it a bad year or a good year?

Ohh, and please describe the situation or what happened

Thankss . =]How was 9th grade for you?
    Sucked.

    1. Split apart completely (went to different schools).

    2. There were no real ';popular'; people.

    3. Bad year - a lot of work. English especially sucked.

Remember, high school is completely different from how it's portrayed in the movies than in real life, although it still sucks. How was 9th grade for you?
the beginning was better than a bloowjob, but the end sucked worse then a tiitie twister
I think everyone at one point changed and drifted aparted, but there was tons of new people to be friends with. =]

At my school we never really did have 'popular' people. Everybody was just friends with everyone. It was nice. I think it was one of my best years.

    :D
I loved 9th grade, I discovered my passion, had lots of pals, felt up my first girl.

    It was great.
My freshman year was actually better than I expected it to be. I thought it would be so much worse because I switched school districts for high school, so I went to a different middle school then 99% of the people at my high school. But, I did go to elementary school with most of them..but I was still nervous because I hadn't seen them since elementary school. I was mostly nervous because the ';popular'; people in middle school are very mean, at least at my middle school. But in high school they really don't act like that anymore. If you're nice to people and don't start drama, they're usually nice to you. I was also very nervous because I was worried I wouldn't make friends, and I wouldn't know anyone in any of my classes or my lunch period..but I made a lot of friends the first day. It was a very good year for me, probably my best. So, if you're worried or nervous, don't be. I completely stressed out for nothing about freshman year because it was so much better than I thought it would be. I'm sure everything will be fine, and I'm sure everyone else is wondering the same thing as you.
Sucked I hated my private preppy school, all my friends where drug dealers and got killed. One of my best friends committed suicide, it kind off picked when I got my first kiss but then I had my herta broken for the first time.

But I learned a lot and it made me mature a lot.

  • How do I change my teacher's mind?

I am just a few credits shy of graduating college with my bachelors. All my grades are good except ONE class that I failed. It is a core education class: biology and I might have to take it AGAIN. I failed with a 67 (D) and all I needed was a 70 to pass. I did bad during that semester cause that class was interfering with my job so I would miss it a lot. I'm very upset about it, but my counselor said I should talk to the biology teacher about changing my grade. She's not a very strict lady, but she's definitley smart.

What should I say to her, should I email her or go to her in person???How do I change my teacher's mind?
Go in person definatly. The best way to go about it is to explain the situation, be totaly honest, don't exagerate or try and make excuses. Also make sure that you know the material. If you can show her that it is important to you and that you really do know the material and you just failed cause you missed to much thanks to work you have a shot. Also don't just go in asking to get your grade bumped to a 70, instead see if there is a way to pick up some extra credit. You may end up having to do a paper or something to get up to a 70 but its a safer way then just trying to get her to change your grade. How do I change my teacher's mind?
    Defiantly go in person.
    In person,
Go to her in person. Ask her what you need to do in order for her to change your grade. Tell her you're willing to help clean the school's bio labs during the summer.
You should definitely see her in person. Be polite, respectful but decisive. Try to explain that you are trying really hard to work and study at the same time. Maybe she could consider changing your grade on the basis of your not being so much under passing limit.

However, prepare yourself well before talking to her. There is a possibility that she asks you a few questions on the spot.
Talk to her in person because it shows you are serious. Maybe she'll let you re-take the final or give you an assignment to make up the exam!

Percent of change 7th grade help?

how would you do the problem ';18 increased to 45 '; %26amp; what's the answer?Percent of change 7th grade help?
I'm not going to do the answer for you because this is something you'll actually need throughout your life, but here's a step by step guide.

    http://www.ehow.com/how_2165137_calculat

Take the old value and subtract it from the new value, then divide by the old value.

    So (45 - 18)/18

Multiply by 100. That number represents the percent change.Percent of change 7th grade help?
    (45/18) 100 = 250% or a change of 150%
    18(100%)=36(50%)=45 100%+50%=150%

How do you determine final grade?

My grades for my government class are as follows-100,100,80,77,50,42 and 10. Im not sure how they determine the final grade. These are not my actual grades because i went on the grading program in school and changed my grade to make it higher. So i need to know what the actual grade would be to avoid suspision. How do you determine final grade?
I don't think it's too wise to tell people that you went on the grading program and changed your grades.

Not to mention that it's a reason to get expelled...

So I wouldn't worry too much about getting suspended for having poor grades.

But, if you must know, it depends on how your grades are averaged.

Do tests and quizzes carry more weight than homework assigments?? (For example, are tests 50% of your grade, and homework and class participation another 50%)

However, if everything is worth the same, just add everything up and divide it by the number of grades. How do you determine final grade?
Wow thats just stupid. If you were smart enough, you would only change your grades a little, not by alot so it wouldn't be obvious. If you have to change youre grades in school just to get better grades, thats pretty sad.
You take all your grades ADD them up then divide each term, When I did this w/the grades you gave it comes out to be a 60 Failing I hope these are not your grades, the 50,and the 42 and 10 brought those two A's and the 80 and even the 77 way down. So as you have stated that these are not your grades I sure hope not if so you will be suspended. Take Care

URGENT!!! About change in final grades affecting college?

I got a D in the last semester of AP Calculus BC. How will this affect my acceptance to UC Davis (which i was already accepted into) as an English major?

Advice on how to approach this?URGENT!!! About change in final grades affecting college?
Assuming that you are still in high school, if you took the AP Calculus test and received a 4 or 5, the credit will transfer with you and you will need to speak with your advisor. You will need at least one year of math at any level for an English major. Final grades in high school (assuming there are no set requirements) will not affect your acceptance since you are already accepted.

This is an email do you think i can convince my professor to allow me to do an extra credit to change my grade

I do know who you are. The grade you received is based on your grades and class participation. I have re-reviewed your scores and I did not make a mistake in computing your grade. While you may not agree with it, I believe the grade is appropriate. Your midterm and final exam grade are based solely on your performance on the exam with the benefit of the curve which I gave to the entire class. Additionally I gave you 20 out of a possible 25 points for attendance and class participation (15 points for attendance and 10 points for participation). Your recollection of your class participation is very different than mine. As I explained when the class first met, I value class discussion and debate. While I cannot grade heavily for this, I do take into account how a student participates in class discussions. There are students who participated regularly by asking questions and engaging in discussions when topics were put before the class. There were others who chose not to participate at all in the class discussions and then there were those who were somewhere in the middle.

I can appreciate your concern about your grade, but I do not believe your grade should be changed. This is an email do you think i can convince my professor to allow me to do an extra credit to change my grade
I agree with ruby. I could understand if you were an A+ student and got a C. But it does seem that your grades are final. A professor can be that way, but at times when you do take the time out and explain to the professor that your grade will change, usually they will. In your case, he knows who deserves the proper grades. Sorry.

Don't hassle him, remember he's your professor and in charge of your grades. This is an email do you think i can convince my professor to allow me to do an extra credit to change my grade
well i think that you shoudnt convince your professer to change your grade after all what he did was best for you i dont know properly but perhaps you didnt participate in class activities pay attention a little bit more and see what happens next time
My experience with professors like this, who value class participation, is that once the class/semester is over he's not going to change the grade. The best you can do is tell him that you appreciate his feedback and ask him what kind of participation would count as ';more active'; so that you don't have this same issue in the future. If you are a bit shy or hesitant about speaking in public, you could let him know. I don't think it would convince him to change your grade but it might make him more willing to help you figure this out for future classes (especially with him). Ask him if he could point out some students in the class who were considered ';high participants'; or questions that were asked by students, or debates that went on, that stuck out in his mind as being positive participation.

Keep it positive ... I doubt he'll change your grade but it's a chance to learn and hopefully get the grade you are working toward if you ever have him as a professor again.
