I am a junior in high school. Could I take some classes at the community college next year as a HS senior?

-I'm less than five credits short of graduating HS. I'm already at the point where a large portion of my schedule is filler electives, and I can't take the classes I still need to until next year.

-I've kind of screwed myself over with grades/changing classes/a generally splotchy track record. I'm getting my act together, but it's kind of late. (My standardized test scores, however, are ';good'; at worst.)

-There are some classes I'd like to take at the CC, though I don't intend to go there for a full course of study after high school.

-I figure if I take those classes and do well (I'm already in a cc algebra class offered at my high school and I'm doing okay.) I am not only getting inexpensive credits in things my hs doesn't offer, but I'm proving to any larger schools that I may apply to that I can handle the coursework, when I wake up and try. (it also may offer some insight to what I may want to major in.)

-I would prefer to spend half of my day doing this as opposed to whatever my ';guidance'; counselor's computer tells her to stuff my schedule with, or wasting the hour I could spend brushing up on my sign language or astronomy being told how to make scrambled eggs in 40 minutes.

-Most credits are transferable to many schools.

-My main question is, would I be allowed to do this?I am a junior in high school. Could I take some classes at the community college next year as a HS senior?
Call up the college and ask. It would be nice to get the hell out of that boring HS and into something more interesting. This might help kids stay in school if they didn't have to sit through so many of the ungodly boring HS classes!!

Good luck with that!I am a junior in high school. Could I take some classes at the community college next year as a HS senior?
some things to thing of. If you took classes at a CC-

Would you still be considered an incoming freshman or a transfer student? You could miss out on a lot of scholarships if you are considered a transfer student.

Some CC have duel enrollment classes. check out those.

No not all CC credits transfer to all colleges. It is best to take general ed classes at a CC. If you know of the four year colleges you are interested in, you can check with them first before taking the class at the CC. to make sure it transfers over.

You can call up the CC by you and see if you can register for any classes while still in HS.

Most colleges will still want your HS transcripts and your ACT/SAT score if you are transferring with less than 60 credits from your CC.
