Failing Math AGAIN...??!?

I took my algebra class for the second time this semester (I got a 69% last time!! You need 70% to pass)....and I just looked at my grade and I got a D in the class!!!!!!!!! I get A's and B's in all my other classes but for some reason math just isn't my subject...and I know that. So I went back into the class this semester trying my hardest, understanding the material better, and going to tutoring once a week. I did good on all my tests until the end of the class it started getting harder.

I just emailed my teacher asking him to reconsider my grade since I tried my hardest, I understand the basics of the class, I go to tutoring all the time, and how it doesn't seem right to base the grades COMPLETELY upon the test scores.

Do you think my teacher will change my grade or just stay firm on giving me a D?Failing Math AGAIN...??!?
he would be doing you a disservice to pass you because you tried hard. When you fail in the real world because you don't understand the problem and how to solve it correctly, you might not want to thank him....since whatever you lose (job, money,ect...) because of your failure you will want to blame him for.Failing Math AGAIN...??!?
They should if that particular teacher is understanding. But most teachers base grades on test scores simply because it is to make sure you do the homework. That way your tests will show if you have an understanding.

But in you case you just seem to have a hard time with math. Which in most cases is understandable. I would hope your teacher has an understanding of the as well.
you know, you should ask him for extra credit work....that might make better impression instead of jsut

';can you please change my grade.'; If you show him you're willing to do work to raise your grade, he'll be more inclined to actually do so.

goodluck on everything =]
Stan firm.

algebra is a building block for other math courses. If you don't learn algebra, you can complete calculus or other advanced math courses. There is also alot of cross over between the math and science courses. Giving you a grade you didn't rightfully earn can actually hurt your future. Noone likes a D, but if you're getting a D in algebra, (twice) you definitely don't grasp the concepts. Perhaps you can take the course with another teacher that you learn better from or *gasp* during a summer program to get the material down.
sometimes teachers will bump up your grade based on effort. but if the grades have already been submitted, there might be little your teacher can do. usually they dont have the authority to change grades after the grading period is over. but if you are thinking of entering a higher level math course at some point in time, maybe its better that you take the class over again, to master the material. otherwise, you'll probably have trouble in the next math class you take.
