Get answers from millions of real people.?

I have worked at my current employers for about 4 yrs. and have been in my current position for almost 3. It is physically demanding and I work hard and care about getting my job done correctly and in a timely manner. But as for my co-worker he's been there many more yrs. than I but has the attitude that he gets paid by the hour (if he does 1 thing or 100 things) in the hour. And if something goes wrong I get the pressure of trying to fix it. hardly anyone will e-mail him with a request to do something or fix something that has gone wrong and he doesn't want to do the foot work to get the problem fixed. Paper work (filing and so forth) 99% left to me. I have talked to my supervisor about this but that hasn't worked. They know how he is. He hardly ever works any over time. Don't want more conflict complaining. And adding more tension. Can't get labor grade change until I learn some more things but haven't had time, just trying to keep my head above water.

Lower paid / felling stressedGet answers from millions of real people.?
If he has been there longer and has a different title and job description - then legwork might legitimately fall on your shoulders.

IF NOT..

Is this new? Has it been like this for 3 years? If so then you can't really blame anyone else. If this is new then you have to bring this topic up again with a boss - is there only 1 boss? Can you go around this person to someone higher up? ';He went over my helmet?'; (spaceballs)

If they don't respond to your very rational comments - time to start looking elsewhere. But while you work through all of this I would stop paying attention to the bum. He sounds like he has plateaued in life - it's a shame. But, if you like your job, it's challenging and rewarding - focus on that aspect of it.

If you didn't sign up to be a Human Filing Cabinet - and they don't respond to you - then it's a pretty easy decision.

All in all have a drink, breathe some fresh summer air and relax. It's not as difficult once you stop watching the bum and start paying more attention to what you're getting and what you want.

Have fun.
