Going into 10th grade, how do I completely change my grades around?

Well in 9th grade, I had a really rough year. I have depression, which I think makes me give up on myself so easily.

I got into trouble a lot, I had 56 absences and I was late almost every day for a few months. My grades were absolutely horrible, I don't think I even passed anything! I never did my homework either. I was such a wreck. But honestly, I'm tired of being that person and I really want to do better. Any ideas?Going into 10th grade, how do I completely change my grades around?

Just doing your homework, whether you do it right or not, will help you and will show your teachers that you are trying. just keep focused on what you want and don't let little distractions get you down.
I hope your rough streak is up!

When you go home take an hour or 2 to go over what you learned.

I'm not saying you have to read word for word but you can skim over it all.

Remember your Vocab and Locations and musical notes.

Good luck
Good for you, Heather. For knowing that you have a problem, for admitting you have a problem, and for wanting to correct your problem.

First, you are going to have to be your best friend. Look at your positive points and work on improving yourself. Compliment yourself when you improve.

Now, you say that you goofed off the 9th grade. Well, that is going to make the 10th grade harder, but not too hard for you. You are going to have to study extra hard. Read your chapters two, three, or four times until you understand them. If you don't understand, ask your teachers for help. Do your Math homework until you understand it. It is not really that hard, once you understand it.

Work hard, be proud, and if you need help, we are here for you.

Good luck.
There are a lot of things I'm sure you already know, like making sure to do assignments and studying for tests. Here are a couple things I always found that helped me.

This might sound weird but I think the single most important thing to doing well in school is having an active and healthy lifestyle. When you excersise your body produces endorphines. These are like a natural anti-depressant. They make you feel good. I've also found it gets me motivated to do work and allows my mind to focus.

It also forces you to manage your time. When you watch tv its soo easy to say screw studying I'm gonna watch another show.

Eating healthy is also really important. When you don't eat right your mind gets sluggish. Its harder to focus on your work, you make more mistakes. You will get that feeling where it becomes a fight to stay awake while your working.
put away you texting, your partying, your chat rooms and don't ask for the answer to your homework on this forum.Do your own reading, your own homework and stop goofing around and don't blame others for you mistakes. No one is responsible for your actions but yourself, and others will not learn for you.
