Did something wrong, don't know how or what to do.?

Well, I tried making copies of my report card, to change my grades so that when my dad see's them, he won't see the two F's I got. I ended up getting caught making copies in the library (but I asked the teacher and she said yes, but i guess she misinterpreted) and I got a detention. She noticed I changed my F in her class and she said she would be informing my parent.

So I went to a store, and made copies changing the F's to C's and gave my dad my report card. But mind you, I got a report card from my guidence counselor, but the ones she prints from her computer looks completely different from my normal report cards we get sent to the house.

I gave my dad the report card, and he noticed it looked different. He said he was going to call the school up to see about it. I'm sort of scared that he'll find out. And also, I have no idea when the teacher will call my Dad, so what do you think I should do? Please don't tell me to tell him the truth, because that's not an option. Lol.Did something wrong, don't know how or what to do.?
If telling the truth is not an option in your world...you deserve everything that happens to you...

What would you do in this situation?

I want to give my instructor a gift (german chocolate) as thanks for helping me during office hours in the past weeks. In a week, he'd sit down with me 3x for an hour to go over material and was always there to help me.

I need at least an 80 on the final exam (this friday) to get a C (and I need this grade for a particular reason) which he knows because i told him.

Now I need to know what's appropriate- on the one hand I want to show him how much I appreciate his help with everything, but if I give him the gift on friday, the last day of exams and the day I'm leaving for home, it's before the grades are released and I don't want him to feel pressured to change the grade if I don't get an 80 (which I will.... :P) (under so much stress right now..) BUT anyway... what would you do in this situation?

also, he is not american. he's from romania. if that has any influence.

thanks!!What would you do in this situation?
I would give him a thank you note now, and when classes start up again, and grades have been noted, give him the german chocolates...

Feelings of inaduqatsy and self-hatred.. how do i start dealing with this more properly?

i'm turning 15 in july

I'm in 9th grade.

Over the past two years i've been dealing with a lot of problems

It's devloped into cutting and anorexia.

I hate myself. Everything i do it feels like its wrong. I KNOW doing well is improtant but the fact that i have a B in three classes and a C in one, A's in the rest, really bothers me.

I can't bring the grades, up, it's too late in the year [even if i got straight As in everything from now till june, i'd still not be able to change my grade]

i'm worthless

EVerything that i do seems to be wrong!

I don't know how to cope with this properly anymore

The cutting is only going to get worse, and it's almost summer. i won't be able to cover up as much as i'd prefer

And the way i eat.. is gonna get worse..

I struggle to eat two meals a day.. and i never eat a lot at either, except for when i end up binging..

I don't know how to cope

I want to start recovering from all this.

it's been this way too long.

[hitting the more obvious questions now]

~No, my mom doeesn't know.. or rather doesn't care. she has seen the cuts and noticed my weight fluctuations, but hasn't tried to confront me or help.

~yes, one person knows most of this

she also lives in canda... :((Feelings of inaduqatsy and self-hatred.. how do i start dealing with this more properly?
So sorry to hear of your troubles. First of all, you need to find someone who you can confide in, neighbor, priest, rabbi, minister, school councilor

You also need to get to a doctor. Have some blood work done to see if you are diabetic or have a chemical imbalance.

Not knowing if you have religion or not, but pray. God, not matter your religion, will always be there waiting for you to ask for help.

Some of what you are going thru might be hormones so it is really important for you to get medical help. Don't be afraid to seek help. Doctors have seen it all and don't take no for an answer. There is something that needs fixing, either physically or mentally. The sooner you get the help you need the better your life will be. No matter what you think of yourself, you are a worthwhile person..

Don't give up in seeking your answers.

Good luck

In this situation what would you do?

Supose you are the dad. The 16 year old son comes to you with the report card and tells you he modified some grades and feels really guilty now so he wanted to confess. The report card as it was in original was bad. Would you punish the kid only for the bad report and how? Would you punish the kid for the bad report and for changing the grades with the intention to lie to you and how? Would you give some credit for confesing the truth , if yes in what way?

(Im the kid tourmented by guilt feelings and wanting to confess )In this situation what would you do?
The rule in my house when my son was in high school was: yes you will be punished for doing something bad, but lie to me and the punishment will be to the moon. Confessing is telling the truth, although not right away. I would punish you for changing the grades, but not for coming clean.

If you changed the grades the punishment would probably be not going out, tv, etc. until all your homework is done. Plus, we would probably go have a talk with your teachers to see what could be done to raise your grades, extra credit, etc.

Remember, your parents want you to succeed. They will do almost anything to help you get the grades they know you can get and to make sure that your a success in your life. I know you don't want the punishment, but if you get caught before you tell Dad I can promise you the sky will fall on your head.In this situation what would you do?
i guess i would be glad my kid came and said something because then i could help with the grades. no punishment. after all i did that all the time
if the kid confessed i would leave that pert of it out. you were told before the damage was done or any lies told. it must have taken courage to own up straight away. i would only ';punish'; for the report card, but i don't really know what you mean by that. if my kid was trying their best and still not getting good grades i wouldn't punish them at all. you can't FORCE someone to be ';clever';. if i knew they were lazy and capable of more i would think of a suitable punishment for that.
First you would catch it for the bad grades because consistent punishment is a key to making rules that will be obeyed. Now confessing would definitely make me consider knocking some punishment off because I value honesty above all else.
I would give you some credit for finally telling me the truth but I don't like being lied to by my children so I would probably find out the reason behind the bad grades. Is it because you didn't study or are you having trouble understanding the work? I think your punishment should be based on the answer to that question. If you are having trouble understanding the work your parents won't know that unless you confide in them. If it is due to your not doing your part to study I would ground you until you brought the grades up. Your parents will respect you alot more if you are honest with them.
Dear Rebel - well....getting bad grades in school is not good...don't know how your parents typically handle that....but don't expect to get off easy! And doctoring your grades is worthy of some grounding Mr.! You have to accept the result of your actions - you won't die if you confess - and although what you did was wrong and you are scared to do what's right....hopefully you have learned your lesson. Take your punishment like a 16 year old!
As a parent to a 18 year old, the rule in our house is absolutely no lying.

We don't care how bad the situation, just tell us the truth and we would go from there.

Yes, he has lied and was grounded for that situation.

You should tell him now before he finds out from someone else. Every parent is different with rules and punishments.

Just be honest, we parents really aren't the bad guys, we love our children and just try to do our very best for them.
Let me tell you how I dealt with a similar situation. I am a father of a 17 yr old girl. In my profession I am in fairly constant contact with the police force so, when my daughter then aged TEN years old forged my signature on a school related document I took her to the local police station and asked the Sargent to show us one of the cells. It had the right effect. She continued to be a straight A student and God willing she will enter university for a maths degree Sept 2007. If kid makes an error that normally only adults commit, then treat kid like an adult and the ensuing shock normally works wonders. The offender's remorse and repentance often aren't enough. You need to REPAIR any damage or hurt that your CRIME has caused. I believe that peer pressure is a serious obstacle for parents to contend with but in my view the only way to take on the ';peer pressure'; your kids are under is ';parents... pressure';. Parents complacency kills kids and their future.
Coming clean for something I didn't know about would absolve the person of any punishment for it, however I would still punish the person for the grades although less severely than if I had found out. It all depends on what your parents are like.
I feel you are showing some maturity and remorse for your actions. If this was a first time at this I would definatly only punish for the first grades and warn about attempted dishonesty and how lying and being dishonest is not a path to choose for a better life in adulthood

  • Teachers: How can I earn a second chance?

I've been stressing out about my grades in an AP class. I've been getting B's on most of my tests and quizzes for half a marking period. However, I must get an A. My parents require me to do so and would surely kill me if I do not. I got an A the first marking period, but for the second (which is not), I did not do as well.

The sad thing is I've been stressing about this everyday of my break (including New Year's). I realize that partly it's my fault, because I've been cramming. But my resolve is to change and truly work hard on everything. I promise for sure.

But the problem is... I only have one more month (half a marking period) to change my grades. Even if I do work hard and get a perfect score on everything, I won't make it to a solid A.

Is there anything I can do or talk about to my teacher to give more opportunities (or tests)?

I realize there are not many assignments left, but I need more to get the A. There are no extra credit assignments. This is an AP course.

Teachers: If I do show that I care and if she truly realizes I have worked harder, will she give me a chance by offering more assignments or even extra credit?

*I realize it is my job to work and I'm willing to do so. All I'm asking here is more opportunities and a chance. I am NOT trying to bribe the teacher or do anything wrong.

Please... I'm miserable now and desperately need it ;(Teachers: How can I earn a second chance?
Honestly, I doubt there will be anything a teacher will do to help you with your grades if you weren't doing the work as well as you should have the first part of the semester. Part of school is teaching the students that there are consequences for their actions (or in your case, inactions).

But this is something you need to bring up with your parents. Bs aren't the end of the world. I mean, a C is average. Just tell them the truth but that you're determined to work harder next quarter. They might actually let you off a little easier because you were honest with them.

Teens/Adolescent help? How to deal with the stress?? (is this normal for stress?)?

Where to start....ok, I'll start with (and only mention) what made me lose it tonight. I suck at math this year, so I've signed on for an online tutor. This hasn't been helping, and I feel really guilty because: 1. I need good grades for any hope of passing the SSATs and getting a scholorship for a private high school and 2. I feel really guilty that I'm doing bad because money has to be wasted for somethng that I cannot understand! I had problems with my homework (even with the tutor) and my brother said I was being bitchy and there were less than 10 minutes left in our session and we had done basically nothing! I said that I gave up and locked myself in my room because I feel so bad that I can't get this or change my grades (they just keep getting worse! I actually got an ';F'; on last week's quiz). My coach (sports coach/program helps us with school) says ';public school isn't an option'; when I told her I was considering public school (what if I don't get financial aid? Or if I tank the SSATs?) because it's too much stress- and I told her that just before she told me to continue for private school!

What really scares me is that I was in the bathroom a few minutes (15?) later and looked in the mirror and started shaking and was on the verge of tears (I actually did cry while locked in my room) thinking I won't be able to change.

I'm being pressured to do so many things right now and so much is expected from me that I don't know and actually think it's going to lead to be breaking down! (Not just doing good at math. I also have to study packets for SSATs, have an interview on Monday, project due that day, I currently have friend issues, and more...)

Please, have any of you experienced anything at all like this? How did you help solve it? I don't want to end up too pressured from this or have this lead to too much.Teens/Adolescent help? How to deal with the stress?? (is this normal for stress?)?
Okay.............YOU'RE pressurizing yourself. Nobody can make you feel pressure but you!!! So..............let it go!!! Go outside and scream, run around the block, yell into a pillow, write some stuff into a journal, do some exercises, dance, attend a concert.

You have to let some pressure off or you're going get high blood pressure, health problems happening, headaches, etc.

Your whole life is going to have stressors in it. Everything you do from getting a job, to having a child, to paying bills, to attending universities, to having a boyfriend/husband, having mechanical problems in the house (furnace, stove, washing machine). Start learning to manage the stress now. The most important thing is to exersize. That helps release the endorphins in the body which create many health issues inside of you.

Remember, YOU are the only one creating stress. There really isn't such thing as stress actually. It's just something you think you should have...worry!!! You don't need to worry. you try your best, you work hard, it will all work out for you.

Good luckTeens/Adolescent help? How to deal with the stress?? (is this normal for stress?)?
I am going through what you are going through right now. Except my SATs are next year, but I have club meetings, babysitting, and a gazillion pounds of homework to do. Especially AP World History, cause that class is soo frikking hard and my mom wants me to get at least a B in that class which I do right now, but it's close to a C and it's driving me insane. Sometimes, it feels like the day isn't even enough.

What to do? Well that's what I am trying to figure out too. I try to keep distractions away like Facebook or MySpace but sometimes that's hard for me. Another helpful tip is to start your homework the moment you get home, cause the earlier you start, the more time you would have to relax. Also, try to take 5 minute breaks every hour when doing school work. It helps a lot, like going outside for a while or eating a snack is a really good refresh. School's pretty tough today and teachers cram us with homework.

Also if you still dont get the math, you may want to ask your tutor to teach it better, cause it doesnt hurt to ask. Or find a way to learn it.

Good luck! Remember, you're not the only one going through this! =))
Im a teen thats why i feel mad lazy to read your novel.

But dont worry we all feel stress, depress, and a random of emotions that not even we can explain

Speaking as a teacher, I've heard too many times ';I'm going to change'; to believe it anymore. It would be one thing if I actually did see the change, and I have been known to make deals with students if I really see change. However, the life lesson here is that all actions have consequences. If you really, really wanted that A you would have worked for it since the beginning of the year. You have to realize what you're asking your teacher to do. You're saying that you should have worked harder, but you didn't, so now you want your teacher to work harder because of that. How is this fair to your teacher? It can't hurt to ask, and since you're actually passing the course that's in your favor as well, just keep these things in mind.Teachers: How can I earn a second chance?
Honestly, I doubt there will be anything a teacher will do to help you with your grades if you weren't doing the work as well as you should have the first part of the semester. Part of school is teaching the students that there are consequences for their actions (or in your case, inactions).

    The short, easy and most reliable answer I can give you is to simply ask your teacher, ';what must I do academically in order to get an ';A'; in your class?';

If there is any way possible, and you are sincere, then your teacher can and will tell you. If however, you have been more of a disruption to the class than a learner, or if you are a minimalist doing just enough to get by, then all bets are off. Your teacher is unlikely to extend themselves on your behalf...since you didn't.

As a teacher I know that sometimes we have a little flexibility in our assessment of a student's work...and sometime we don't. As a semester progresses it becomes easier to recognize a student who is giving 100% and doing their best from the student who is not. One strong indicator is how well the student is doing in their other classes. It's been my experience that by and large, the student who is doing A/B work in your class is doing A/B work in their other classes as well.

Good luck and I hope that helps
The fact that you realize your fault in the matter, and have admitted that your grade is not what it should be due to the fact that you have thus far not done a truly AP-level job with your studies, would tell me, as a teacher, that you have learned a lesson. Maybe I would be willing to add some assignments to my course syllabus so that you personally, and maybe other students in the same boat, would have a chance to raise your grade.

But, on the other hand, your lesson will be learned better if you suffer the consequences. All is not lost with a B grade. Next semester you will show your teachers you want the A, because you don't want the alternative consequences ever again. This will make you a stronger, more driven learner. (The essence of a professionally done job.)

Im not sure if they will be able to give you extra tests but I think its worthwhile if have a meeting with your teacher and tell her that you are prepared to work harder and more diligently as you would like to immprove your marks and maybe you could ask the teacher for her advice as to what he/she might be able to help you with. Sometimes in some cases they can offer extra research projects/coursework but it depends on the teacher and the subjects you are currently studying.

At the end of the day, dont stress out about it and enjoy your break as this is the time where you give your brain a rest from schoolwork and let your hair down a bit. Im sure you and the teacher can develop a plan together to improve your grades. Where theres a will, theres a way!

In this situation what would you do?

Supose you are the dad. The 16 year old son comes to you with the report card and tells you he modified some grades and feels really guilty now so he wanted to confess. (Im the kid tourmented by guilt feelings and wanting to confess )In this situation what would you do?
I'm a dad and have teenage kids. Here's how I would handle it:

First, thank you for bringing it to me and telling me the truth. It shows you are growing up. However, we need to decide how to address the fact that you were going to lie to me. What do you think would be appropriate?

At that point we'd talk that portion of it through.

Ok, now we need to talk about your grades, what's the problem?

How I would proceed from that point would be decided on what I found out. Is the kid screwing off? Does he have an honest probelm and need help? Are outside activitie interferring with the core need to learn important subjects?

Once all that was worked out, if the over all was positive or the kid showed true remorse for the attempt I might suspend any determined punishment based on future behavoir. The idea is to encourage honesty and help the kid get through school in the best possible manner. Punishment for the sake of punishment usually does more harm than good. Lessons should be instructive and one of the lessons here should be that its always best to come to me about a problem. If I punish too without good cause I'll fail at teaching that lesson. In this situation what would you do?
I wouldn't punish you for changing the grade since you confessed and said you were sorry but I would address the issue of the bad grade and research and see how I could help you in the subjects you are stuggling in.
I would praise him for confessing and give him a slighter punishment since his grades were bad. Explain what the original punishment would have been and then tell him the new punishment since he confessed.
Confess and lay the groundwork for an honest relationship.

If you do not have a history of this behavior, they will probably go easy on you.

Also, maybe have a plan of action ready to get those grades up before the next report card comes out.

    Do the right thing.
i would be honest %26amp; take what the father gives you in return you knew better then to change your grade %26amp; then try to hid it then after the dames are done you want to confess well if i was the father i would ground you untill your bring up the grades %26amp; take your privelages a way untill you learned your lesson
as a parent i would respect the fact that they confessed, but if u didn't confess then would the dad eventually find out and that is y u are confessing if thats the case then i would punish for both but if the dad would never had known then the punishment would be less severe because of the confession
I would punish for the bad grades and also work on a plan to improve the grades. This plan could include tutoring, more studding, and ect. (If you need to help with studding, the do it!)

I would still also punish for the changing of the grades but cut the time of the punishment in half for the confession. (ex: If you would have normally grounded them for a week, do 3.5 days.)

I would explain the time reduction and praise the child for telling the truth!
do the right thing, you're dad is still be you're dad I'm also a parent it happen to me but in different situation but I didn't punish my son instead I talk to him seriously. Its better to tell him soon don't worry about his anger its natural thing, maybe he will punish you but believe me he Love's you, I know how hard for a parent to punish there child but sometimes parent need to do that, to teach the child that what he do is wrong to correct his thought. But before you go to you re dad make time to pray ask HIM for help.
i would, wow. there is a lot to think about. I'm in eighth grade, so its kind of hard to pretend. well, if you where my kid (hypothetically) i would pro bally lecture you, lol. i would just calmly talk to you about it! i mean, i wouldn't have grounded you for the bad grades. i may have taken away your cell phone or computer or something like that. but then when it comes to changing grades, if you wouldn't have had told me i would have grounded you from life for like a month, but if you would have told me, i would probably ground you from going out and ground you from the phone for about a week or two. i wouldn't ground you for very long because you admitted to your mistakes and you know what you did was wrong, and i hope that you would know not to do it again, and maybe to get some better grades next quarter!! well good luck!!
well there should be some type of punishment for grade alterations, then you would know and understand to not do it again, you can't just look over it
Your dad is going to be mad no matter what, BUT he is going to be more mad if he finds out you lied without your confession-say from teachers or the school or just because he is your dad and they aren't stupid.

I think you should tell him the truth. I think he will be less angry at you than if he were to find out on his own. Just tell him you made a mistake and that you were ashamed at how poorly you did and that you didn't want him to feel ashamed too. Tell him that you will make every effort to do better next quarter. Good luck.

    Character counts!!!
Well a weeks punishment is good. But at least he confested to you. :-)
I agree 1000% with Bob G! Good advice from a real dad with teenagers.

My younger brother tried to pull that with me. I'm with my brothers most of the time while mom works so I get all the 'fun' report cards and etc. Jordan is usually an honest child but sometimes he doesn't like to disappoint mom or me and so he'll lie. I honestly think you should just be honest with your parents and explain that you felt like you were letting them down by getting the bad grades but then felt even worse for trying to cover the truth up. If you have understanding parents then they will only be upset for a bit and then lighten up. Lying only leads to more lies and you should never resort to that.In this situation what would you do?
id tell the kid he was dumbass for telling me and should of went with the modified report card
Best to tell the truth regardless of consequences. At least the guilty feeling will go away.

As for the report card, I would probably only reprimand for the bad grades.
I think it would depend how you approach your dad. If you r sincere and apologetic , i believe i would still have to give you the lecture on lying, and the importance of good grades etc. But, i would be proud that you came to confess to me before i found out the truth on my own. Your always better off coming clean in every situation.
I would be disappointed but I wouldn't punish him. The fact that he wanted to tell me means that his conscience has been punishing him enough. On the other hand, I would know that he is becoming a decent man because of his honesty and willingness to face the music.

You are becoming a real stand up guy, by the way.
I would be more upset about the modified grades than I would the bad report. A few D's and F's I can deal with, but I CAN'T STAND being lied to. For punishment I would take away all privileges (phones, internet, car, etc.) until the next (unmodified) report card came home.
if i was your dad i would be happy you confessed but not so happy you did it in the first place! i wouldnt punish you bad but maybe a few days to a week of grounding...and if ur dad is nice maybe just one day! but first you gotta ask urself...what would you do if you were in ur dads shoes????
Stop being dishonest...you want to be this way all your life...Stop trying to fool adults, they are always 1 step ahead of you...Lying, cheating the next thing you know you will steal...those 2 things usually go together.. ';you lie, you steal';. Always be truthful, its easier...If I was your Dad I would literally take off my belt to you....send you to your room, but do not turn on that TV, no video games..no telephone..punished for 2 weeks and you will study the whole time you are in that room.. I know it sounds rough but you lie, you trying to fool someone and that is just dishonest... You should be trying to make Dad proud of you...Do something nice for him. when this is over, start changing your ways..do good and be good...So now it is time to face the music...Just let Dad know how and why you did it and promise it won't happen again...and YOU, stick to your word!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As a parent, I would first appreciate the honesty. I would take time to decide on the punishment while carefully weighing the fact that you came clean. Obviously, you know you did a bad thing. I'd make you accountable for the grades and maybe even meet with your teachers. My husband who is leaning over my shoulder thinks you broke a trust, but I happen to think that you confessing outweghs that emotion. Go with your gut. You will survive and feel better. Parents want to see kids succeed. You'll have taght yourself a great lesson.

  • How to deal with the teacher after you get caught cheating? 10 points!?

Some of my friends and I have been changing our grade in our math class, and we're in high school btw. We get on the teacher's computer and raise our grades. I had an F at first, then raised it to a C without the teacher noticing. But a week later, stupid me raised it to an A- and now it's so obvious! Some of my classmates claim that they overheard my teacher talk about how she noticed the change. So now there's a possibility of me getting caught, but it's uncertain yet.

This is different from the usual form of cheating, which is cheating on tests!

I know it's wrong, and i would never do it again. I really don't need to hear ';it's wrong and you should never do it again';, even though I'm pretty sure a lot of the answers will still be similar to that.

I plan to confess to my teacher if she asks me about it, and I plan on telling the truth. But the thing is, half the class (literally) was involved in this and I feel that the story will most likely get mixed up. She'll say he did it, he'll say they did it, they'll say I did it, etc... And I might get most of the blame because it was my idea. How should I make my story to make it sound more sympathetic? I'm not trying to get out of this, I accept the consequences, but I just don't want to get the majority of the blame for it when so many other people did it too. I heard that there is already some people who plan to deny it. I don't plan on denying it so please help me think of what to say to make the truth sound better!

also, the teacher dislikes me already, a lot.How to deal with the teacher after you get caught cheating? 10 points!?
Wow, this is tough. If you say the teacher dislikes you then this is your chance to really earn some points with her. You should ask her after class if she will have time to meet with you after school. Then go to her and be sincere, tell her that you were involved and you're sorry. Sincerely sorry. Try not to get the other students involved- she will respect you more if you dont try to put the blame on others. Tell her you accept any consequences, and you know you haven't been the best student but you're willing to make a huge improvement. Then tell her that although you're not a good math student, you think that she's a great teacher (teachers love to hear stuff like that) You will probably really shock her, and hopefully she will see you in a new light and go easy on you. Good luck! How to deal with the teacher after you get caught cheating? 10 points!?
There's really no getting out of this. You'll be lucky if you're not expelled. Maybe there's a good reason your teacher doesn't like you. It's not like your F was a result of her not liking you - there's a right and a wrong answer in math. Own up quick and maybe you won't be expelled. Go talk to her before anyone else does.

You don't convert your marks into a GPA. You need to talk to each uni to find out how they want you to handle it. Some may want you to just send your transcripts, with a certified translation if needed, to their school. Others may want you to send them to an educational verification company - and they'll tell you which one to use. But you don't try to convert to a GPA. Let the pros do that.

You are correct - you are not applying to these schools as an international student. Due to your US citizenship, you are a domestic student re: applications.

I think that you have a very good chance of getting into URI. You have a good chance at Stony Brook and Binghamton, and probably at Maryland. Schools that may be reach schools for you are UW, Georgia, UNC and U Michigan. But that depends on how high you can bring your SAT scores.

That doesn't mean you shouldn't apply to those schools! You do stand a chance - your stats aren't so much lower than what they want that you don't stand a chance. Just know that they are reach schools. You may get in. You may not get in.

If you'd like some more ';fit'; schools like Stony Brook and Binghamton, you could look at UMass Amherst, SUNY New Paltz, Champlain College, Stonehill College, U Vermont, U New Hampshire, Hampshire College, Loyola Maryland, Syracuse U, Clarkson U, UConn, SUNY Oneonta, SUNY Geneseo.

    Failing Math AGAIN...??!?

I took my algebra class for the second time this semester (I got a 69% last time!! You need 70% to pass)....and I just looked at my grade and I got a D in the class!!!!!!!!! I get A's and B's in all my other classes but for some reason math just isn't my subject...and I know that. So I went back into the class this semester trying my hardest, understanding the material better, and going to tutoring once a week. I did good on all my tests until the end of the class it started getting harder.

I just emailed my teacher asking him to reconsider my grade since I tried my hardest, I understand the basics of the class, I go to tutoring all the time, and how it doesn't seem right to base the grades COMPLETELY upon the test scores.

Do you think my teacher will change my grade or just stay firm on giving me a D?Failing Math AGAIN...??!?
he would be doing you a disservice to pass you because you tried hard. When you fail in the real world because you don't understand the problem and how to solve it correctly, you might not want to thank him....since whatever you lose (job, money,ect...) because of your failure you will want to blame him for.Failing Math AGAIN...??!?
They should if that particular teacher is understanding. But most teachers base grades on test scores simply because it is to make sure you do the homework. That way your tests will show if you have an understanding.

But in you case you just seem to have a hard time with math. Which in most cases is understandable. I would hope your teacher has an understanding of the as well.
you know, you should ask him for extra credit work....that might make better impression instead of jsut

';can you please change my grade.'; If you show him you're willing to do work to raise your grade, he'll be more inclined to actually do so.

    goodluck on everything =]
    Stan firm.

algebra is a building block for other math courses. If you don't learn algebra, you can complete calculus or other advanced math courses. There is also alot of cross over between the math and science courses. Giving you a grade you didn't rightfully earn can actually hurt your future. Noone likes a D, but if you're getting a D in algebra, (twice) you definitely don't grasp the concepts. Perhaps you can take the course with another teacher that you learn better from or *gasp* during a summer program to get the material down.
sometimes teachers will bump up your grade based on effort. but if the grades have already been submitted, there might be little your teacher can do. usually they dont have the authority to change grades after the grading period is over. but if you are thinking of entering a higher level math course at some point in time, maybe its better that you take the class over again, to master the material. otherwise, you'll probably have trouble in the next math class you take.

UC Intercampus Transfer PASS/NO PASS policy?

    Hello everyone,

I am currently attending UCSC. I am planning to transfer to UCB or UCLA because UCSC doesn't offer a B.A. major in Statistics. Right now, I am taking 3 classes (5 unit each). One of my classes is a writing class. I was hoping to change the grading policy from GRADED (letter grades) to PASS/NO PASS to keep my current GPA because I am certain that I will not obtain an A in the class. Writing isn't my major, nor is it any prerequisite for my major.

    1. Will a PASS/NO PASS grade for my writing class drastically affect chances of transferring to UCLA or UCB?

    2. How often can I PASS/NO PASS until it actually becomes detrimental to my chances of transferring to UCLA or UCB?

Thanks in advance!UC Intercampus Transfer PASS/NO PASS policy?
The general rule for transfer admission is ';no more than 14 semester (21 quarter) units may be taken Pass/Not Pass.'; This should apply to intercampus transfer as well.

Career help fast please am i hopeless?

Well bottom line my parents keep screaming at me and telling me that im already 16 and i need to think of a career, right now i have like a 58 average or so, i do bad in school and absolutely hate it. Im really lazy and if i was motivated to get higher grades I probably good but im just sooo lazy, i always look at actors who are famous and get paid like from secret life of the american teenager, there 18, Amy (shailene woodley) didnt even attend high school, and shes already gettin paid huge. I need a career, me and my friend always wanted to move to where famous celebs live, or that area, (california,LA) or at least the USA from canada, and the only thing i love doing is watchin drama shows (cheesy eh), bein famous is sick though ahah, but I just want to know, does anybody know any good careers that follow anything of what i said? I like dramas and want to move to like LA california area (i know your thinking actor probably) but other then that, because i really dont think i got a chance in that, like i got a 58 average, or what courses to take? what are some jobs that are incorporated in the making of drama shows maybe, that get to see the main actors and talk to them n such, and then what classes i have to do good in or what classes i need to take (my take was like this, doing goods a waste, you get a job and live your life like every other average joe on the planet) thats why i do not what to become an electrition or welder, not saying that bad jobs! there actually relaly good jobs! but is it to late to change my grades? or does it matter now, i did bad in grade 9 10, and half of 11, only got 1.5 years left. :( im hopeless! ( i like computers too) and if you name a job, is there anything i can do right now to start helpin :/

i wait each week to watch dramas! im a guy its sooo pathetic!

i really enjoy seeing each characters different personalitys from the shows!

i just enjoy how much better then make everything looks in shows then in real life if i was to film somebody aha!

but if there is only a year and a half yet and i do good do colleges even look at that or grade 9 and 10Career help fast please am i hopeless?
There are several things that you could do and the first is to slow down a bit. At your age it's pretty normal to be very impatient with life and it probably seems like time isn't moving fast enough. The whole truth is that it is and if I were you, I'd treasure every single minute that's left of high school. You seem to have a focus in that you like the celebrity lifestyle and you're attracted to show biz. One way to get into the acting business is to enroll into a relevant acting course. California seems to be your place of choice so why not start out by checking out acting or film schools there? Most reputable schools would want to see your high school diploma so how about getting that out of the way by focusing on your subjects and finishing school?

Also, it would help if you started building up a portfolio by participating in plays and talent shows both at your school and in your community. Is there a local drama group that you could join? Does your school have a drama club? Maybe you could form one. If you follow all these suggestions time will fly so fast and the next thing you know, high school will be over and done with and you'll have earned the respect of your parents and most importantly your own self respect.Dropping out of high school isn't an option. Forget those teen celebrities. Every star follows it's own path in the sky.Find yours.

Regarding a career, seems like you've already decided that you want something connected to TV/ Films/Acting. The next thing is to figure out which aspect you are interested in since there's a wide range of related careers i.e.acting, producing, playwrighting, directing, photography, make - up etc. You need to explore the options by researching them online and figuring out which way to go and the kind of training required. It will take a while to figure all of this out.In the meantime, since you're so computer savvy, how about starting your own online business to fund your way through high school and film school? You could earn a lot of money promoting other people's products. You would be provided with lots of support and a website. Check out highprofits.com, click bank or other affiliate sites and get started.Career help fast please am i hopeless?
There are lots of potential hurdles for teenagers in work, many of them legal, moms and dads have to be vigilant about that. There is lots of guidance from the site in the box below on this subject, they also have guidance for all people who are searching for work, or who have to change careers.

How did your life change during high school and after?

My life has changed so much during high school and i dont like it at all. I stopped hanging out with my friends and am not good with the ladies. Im not a loser and ive had attractive girlfriends in the past, but my life has drastically changed during my 9th grade summer. I sit her 10th grade summer writing to complete strangers asking if they have had the same situations and how?How did your life change during high school and after?
High school is during that age of your life when your hormones are out of control trying to balance themselves out. Making you awkward and unhappy in this caged environment. The first two years of high school is a time to be a kid and make mistakes and have fun. But make sure you learn from your mistakes and never repeat the same mistake. The last two years should be focused on bettering yourself as a fully functioning person of society (get a job, stay out of jail)

You should enjoy the last years of being an adolescent, but prepare yourself to be an adult. How did your life change during high school and after?

  • How should i tell my parents this?

Well at the beginning of the semester i had a missing assignment in one class and it made it an F even though there is only one assignment. My parents being frikin ridiculous would've have flipped on me if i showed them so i hid it. Eventually this led to having to change my grades to A's when i print them out on Friday using Microsoft word. Right now i don't have A's but my parent's think i do.

    I have 2 A's 2 B's and 2 C's. I'm trying hard to get those C's to at least B's.

I want to have them be aware that i don't have all A's but i have a few B's. I was thinking that maybe i could slowly drop the percentage of the grade when i change them to B's and maybe they wont care so much but i feel like absolute crap. My dad keeps thanking me for my grades and i keep stressing out over this. please help me! I want to get out of this without them knowing i lied to them. How should i tell my parents this?
Honesty is the best policy. It will catch up to you sooner or later you might as well come cleanHow should i tell my parents this?
There's no way to get out, grow up and tell them the truth.
tell them you fibbed about your grades, and you felt guilty. Tell them that you will try as hard as you can to get your low grades up to a's. And you will except any reasonable punnishment
First of all mate, you can't get away with it without telling the truth. Just tell them you had an F. It's just one F, the others were good, you don't need to worry much. They will be mad, of course, because you lied to them. But they will understand and eventually it will go away (But NEVER take them for granted. Everyone has limits.). Just try your best at your studies.

What should I do if Ive been falsely accused?

Someone broke into my computer teacher's room, sprayed blue paint over the blackboard saying Mr. Dennis is a fascist in spray paint, and went onto his computer changing my grade from a B to an A.

In class, someone spoke up, and said that I was the one who broke in and caused the vandalism. I opened my locker (which hadnt been opened for days) to show them there was nothing to see. Instead, there was a can of blue paint and gloves with blue paint on them!

Im in a LOT of trouble, and I've been framed! I would never change the B to an A. I have really good grades, and a B would not even make a difference!

How can I prove or tell the principal that Ive been framed?

    btw

Im pretty sure the whole school hates me

They assumed the code is something only I knew, as Im pretty good at cracking them, though it was Grades XX, which is used for the filing cabinet (broken into almost every day)

Im accused of vandalism, and I might lose my scholarships

Only two people know my combo. Me and my locker partnerWhat should I do if Ive been falsely accused?
    get a lawyer.

    answer mine????

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;What should I do if Ive been falsely accused?
Who else would have your combination? as well as between what times did the crime take place and where were you? Answer these 2 questions youll be able to get off and find out who may have done it .If you didnt do it that is.
That is really ****** up, whoever did that.

Now sometimes people can get your locker combo. but listen... tell them to pull the tapes of camrea off of school that they record everyday.

    AND

maybe your locker partner told someone that your combo is that.
You should make a list of possible subjects. You should definitely get the spray paint cans checked for fingerprints and any other DNA, such as a hair strand in your locker. Have them review all cameras if any and I doubt it, but if the doorknob hasn't been touched, or been touched by 1 person, get that finger print checked for any other possibilities. Pay attention and see if anyone reacts differently in school to you, besides the fact they think you did what you didn't. Higher a lawyer. Tell them to search your house for any evidence at all of spray paint and make sure you don't have any.You seem to be a hacker, so clean out your computer COMPLETELY, and have them search that for any hacking signs. Once you have all possible things that can get you guilty removed, tell them that you will be hiring a lawyer. If they find nothing, it will certainly eliminate some things. But if you have that hacker's reputation, make sure no one tells. This will **** you (just to be straightfoward). Tell them to check for fingerprints of the computer on the keys and mouse or whatever. Tell them to do every possible thing you can think of that can eliminate the bullshit. Pay attention to your locker partner. Get some information about them. Do this as soon as possible to clear your record, and if you can clear it, sue the school for all the trouble you've gone through. GOOD LUCK

Im 14 years old, i want to know my future height?

ok well, im 14 years old, im 5'11 1/2, 71.5inches. my dad is 5'10, my mother is 5'6, my voice started to change in grade 7 1/2 or grade 8, and now im in grade 9, i play a lot of basketball and eat perfectly. i also stretch a lot! how tall am i going to be? ( i also take fish oils)Im 14 years old, i want to know my future height?
maybe 6ft Im 14 years old, i want to know my future height?
You can't really predict your height. It depends on your genes and how you treat yourself. Well you seem like you will grow, a lot. Basketball and good diet helps.
hard to say, your taller than mom, and dad so not to much taller, but probley a little taller
There is no full-proof way of knowing. the only clue is your parents, but you're already taller than them. Keep eating good food, not junk, do plenty of exercise, as you are with basketball, and that's all you can do.

    btw I stopped growing at 13 yrs, and I'm 6'2';
You're probably not going to get much taller but you could. Are people pretty tall in your family (grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc)? My dad is 6ft and my mom is only 4'11 but I grew to be 6'2. everyone but my mom and grandmother are on the taller side in my fam.
    man your tall :)

Ok so i just emailed my professor and.....?

she responded . I had her email and emailed her saying to email me bak to make sure that her email was still working and that i had to ask her an important question.... Well my question was to basically find a way to argue with her about the grade she had give me. I took her Statistics course back in the Spring term 07'... so I don't know if too late to have her change my grades for the following reasons....

first the homework i did for her i had an A on and the spss which is a data software I recieved around a B average on ..

Ok this is the downfall the midterm I took I recieve a fail mark around a 40 -60 since I was confused at wheterh we was able to take notes from the text to explain our work and some students did and received a passing mark and I failed the midterm since I was sooooooo worried as to making sure I 'd pass it and I ended going blank and hesitating that I wasnt concenrating on the exam.

So how can i word all that into a decent way to let her know that I tried in the class and if she can reconsider to somehow change my grade by having me redo an assignment and /or final exam. Also I always showed up to class and never missed. I mean cmon all of ma other psychology classes are b- and above leaving this course to bring me down on my gpa and chances of getting acccepted to grad school since a 4-year degree wont do much for me if im majoring in forensic psychology.

10POINTS FOR BEST ANSWER PLZZOk so i just emailed my professor and.....?
Spring 07 grade? Drop it. If you were my student and asked for me to review a grade from way back then, I would tell you that the boat had sailed.....

The time to get help with notes is DURING class, not a year and a half, almost two years later.

You seem to have a focus on some big prize at the end, yet lost sight of the important milestones along the way.......

Sorry kiddo, you will have to eat this one and learn from the lesson.Ok so i just emailed my professor and.....?
what?? you took her class TWO YEARS AGO and you want to argue your grade with her now???

good luck with that. not only will she not remember you but she will think you are crazy and is probably unable to touch the grades anymore anyway.
I don't think it's worth it for you to ask your professor to change your grade. This is not her fault and not her problem, and even if she could do anything about it (which she can't--it IS too late and your reasons insufficient), you're asking a lot of work from her to fix your mistake, which comes across as rude even though you don't mean for it to be. She will only get annoyed with you, and if your goal is to go to graduate school, you don't want to leave any of your professors with a negative impression. Academia is a small world, people talk.

If it's not too late, retake the class. If you liked this professor, respond instead that you would like to retake her class because you're unhappy with your performance the first time and know you can do better. It'll be boring, yes, but the new grade will replace the old one for your GPA and you'll have a better handle on the material. It will be easier the second time around (but don't take it for granted--you'll still need to do the work). And this time, ask well before the final exam whether notes are allowed!
