How can I overcome my shyness with girls ?

It's been three years of high school, and I haven't had a date yet because I'm too shy to talk to girls. I have plenty of male friends but I can't talk to girls. I want this to change in Grade 12, but I need tips. I hear people say ';just go and talk to her'; but I'm too insecure to even do that. And it's a shame, because I've had quite a few times where I missed out on great oppurtunities because I was too shy to do anything.



I want to get rid of this problem before university or else I might never get a girlfriend. Advice please?How can I overcome my shyness with girls ?
